Sometimes it’s fun to get out of our comfort zone and try new foods in Disney World, even if the flavor combination sounds bizarre — like with the 50th Celebration Cone, made with Dole Whip lemon and cookie dough soft serve (which oddly works!).
But still, not every Disney World dish or flavor combo works, and we’ve compiled a list of the best and worst foods we tried in March! Here’s what you might want to add to your next Disney World food list — and what you might not.
The Five Best
Steak Frites — Space 220
EPCOT’s Space 220 restaurant got a menu revamp this month, and with that came some tasty new eats! We especially loved the new Steak & Frites lunch entree, which comes with a Coffee Space Rub Flat Iron topped with Chimichurri sauce, with Fries and Broccolini on the side. If you’re a steak person, this is one you need to try in Disney World.
Our steak was tender and flavorful, and the chimichurri sauce was fresh and not overpowering. If you want to give it a try, make a lunch reservation at Space 220 (or try the walk-up waitlist!) and order from the lunch prix fixe menu for $55 per person.
Here’s our review of the Space 220 Steak & Frites and other new menu items.
Braised Short Rib — Hollywood Brown Derby
The Hollywood Brown Derby in Disney’s Hollywood Studios also received some big menu changes, and the Braised Short Rib was a HIT with us. It’s served with Parsnip Puree, Spring Vegetable Succotash, and Truffle Aioli for $39. It was our favorite of the new entrees at Brown Derby!
As if the meat wasn’t already delicious and fall-off-the-bone tender, the truffle aioli actually made it even better. The parsnip puree was buttery and sweet, and the succotash added a nice pop of color. This is one new entree we definitely recommend trying at Brown Derby!

Scat Cats Beignets — Scat Cat’s Club
We weren’t totally sure what to expect with the new Scat Cats Beignets from the Scat Cat’s Club in Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter Resort hotel, but we were pleasantly surprised to learn that Mickey-shaped Beignets can work with dipping sauces! This dish comes with three lightly-powder-sugared Mickey Beignets and three dipping sauces, including Red Pepper Jelly, Pimento Cheese, and Green Goddess Dressing.
This trio of beignets and dipping sauces costs $10, and we LOVED two of these dipping sauces in particular. The Pimento Cheese was amazing and perfectly textured and the Pepper Jelly was sweet with a hint of pepper flavor, and combined together on a beignet was ✨chef’s kiss.✨ We will totally be back for more.

Chorizo Arepas — World Premiere Food Court
The new savory breakfast dish you’ll want to try was inspired by the women of Encanto, and you can currently find it at two different locations — the World Premiere Food Court at Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort hotel and Landscape of Flavors at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort hotel.
For $9.49, you get the Chorizo Arepas, which are Cheese Arepas topped with Chorizo, Red Pepper and Onion Egg Scramble, Arugula, and Sliced Avocado. Not only is this a tasty way to start your day, it’s also a great portion size with the perfect amount of spice. All the flavors work together and we even tried a bit of maple syrup for a sweet and savory taste!

Air Fries — Local Green Orlando
Local Green Orlando is a new food truck located in Disney Springs, and this Atlanta-based restaurant specializes in vegan, vegetarian, and pescatarian dishes. While we enjoyed what we tried from the menu, we absolutely loved the $5.99 Air Fries!
These fries were the right kind of crispy and crunchy, and they had a little bit of a kick from chili and garlic seasonings. We’re definitely going back for more and next time we’re asking for a side of sriracha aioli!

Pretzel Bread Pudding — Sommerfest
At Sommerfest in the Germany pavilion in EPCOT, we had to try the new Pretzel Bread Pudding and y’all, it was love. We think it’s made from leftover pretzels and topped with Caramel Butterscotch and a White Cream Sauce.
The main flavor is caramel, along with cinnamon and other baking spices, and the cream tasted like a subtle creme anglaise. This is also a pretty dense snack, and it costs less than $5 at $4.79!

The Six Worst
Salted Cucumber Apple Hard Cider — Refreshment Port
It’s time to move on to the worst things we ate in March, and we’re starting with the Salted Cucumber Apple Hard Cider by Stem Ciders from Refreshment Port’s 2022 EPCOT Flower & Garden Festival menu. It costs $10.75, and it sounds like an interesting flavor combo, right?
We could really taste the salt in this drink, along with the cucumber flavor, so it reminded us of eating a salad. Or, rather, drinking a salad. If you’re adventurous and you want to give it a try, make sure you visit EPCOT before the Flower & Garden Festival closes on July 4th!

Oyster Beignet Po’Boy — Scat Cat’s Club
We’re taking another trip back to the Scat Cat’s Club in Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter Resort hotel — this time for the Oyster Beignet Po’Boy. This sandwich is a Mickey-shaped Beignet with Fried Oyster, Lettuce, Tomato, Cajun Rémoulade, and House-made Pickles for $15. It’s also served with potato chips.
This sandwich fell apart under the Cajun Rémoulade, and the oyster didn’t taste like much other than fried batter. We did really like the chips, but between the oysters and the sandwich falling apart, this was a miss for us.

Strawberry Cheesecake Funnel Cake — Funnel Cake Stand
The Strawberry Cheesecake Funnel Cake is available at the Funnel Cake Stand in EPCOT during the 2022 Flower & Garden Festival, and it’s basically a Funnel Cake topped with Strawberry Ice Cream, Cheesecake Crumbles, Strawberry Drizzle, and Whipped Cream for $10.50.
Unfortunately, the strawberry ice cream tasted very artificial, and it reminded us of cough medicine. The funnel cake was great, but the cheesecake pieces had a gummy flavor too. So while this treat is beautiful, let’s just say beauty isn’t everything!

Peanut Butter Bunny Cookie — Gasparilla Island Grill
It’s springtime in Disney World, so we visited Gasparilla Island Grill at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa to check out some new goodies, like the Peanut Butter Bunny Cookie. It’s cute, right? This cookie is made of a Peanut Butter Cookie Cup with Buttercream, a Sugar Bunny, and Spring Sprinkles.
While we generally love peanut butter treats, this was not a peanut butter win. The cookie was VERY dry, and it was loaded with chopped peanuts. It wasn’t really sweet either, and there wasn’t enough icing to balance out the cookie’s dryness. You can try it for $4.99, but it won’t be around for long!

Jackfruit Gyro — Sunshine Seasons
Disney is known to accommodate all kinds of diets, and two new plant-based dishes arrived at Sunshine Seasons in EPCOT this March. While we did like one of those dishes, the other one was a pretty big fail. The Jackfruit Gyro is $9.99, served with Jackfruit, Pickled Onions, Red Peppers, Fresh Cucumbers, and Tzatziki Sauce on a pita.
This gyro is served cold, and the jackfruit needed more seasoning. It was weirdly bitter and sour and it would be better served warm, in our opinion. The tzatziki was also oily and had a strong coconut flavor, and the pita was stale. As our reporter put it, this was “a haunted house of a pita sandwich.”
Here’s our review of the Jackfruit Gyro.
Plant-Based Bratwurst — The Friar’s Nook
And lastly, we have another plant-based dish, the Plant-Based Bratwurst for $10.29 from The Friar’s Nook in Magic Kingdom. Although the Mobile Order picture advertised this dish on a pretzel bun, we were served the bratwurst on a regular hot dog bun. The bratwurst was also dry, and it had very little flavor.
If you’re feeling frustrated by plant-based options in Disney World, you could always try the Plant-Based Dog at Casey’s Corner or even the Spicy Italian “Sausage” Sub at PizzeRizzo.
