Disney World has a LOT of restaurants, like, over 400. WOW.
Still, is there really such a thing as too many restaurant options? Here at Disney Food Blog, we certainly don’t think so. Well, we’re in luck because there are three NEW restaurants coming to Disney World THIS YEAR. Let’s take a look!
1. Salt & Straw
First up, we have a restaurant that could open ANY DAY NOW. Salt & Straw is an ice cream shop that’s coming soon to Disney Springs. It was originally announced that it would open in March. Well, it’s now April and we’re patiently waiting to get scoopin’.
There’s already a Salt & Straw location at Disneyland’s Downtown Disney, so we’ve had the chance to try out some of the handmade, small-batch ice cream made with local, organic, and sustainable ingredients. These flavors are UNIQUE. Did you know they even had TURKEY-flavored ice cream for Thanksgiving one year? And, we love it!
Keep an eye on DFB for opening news about the new location. It’s set to serve up favorites like Honey Lavender and Chocolate Gooey Brownie, along with unique flavors specific to Florida including The Salty Donut Guava & Cheese and Panther Coffee Chocolate Tres Leches.

2. Connections Café and Eatery
Next, we’re heading on over to EPCOT’s World Celebration where we’re eagerly anticipating the opening of Connections Café and Eatery! This spot is a brand new quick-service restaurant set to open THIS SPRING.
Connections Café and Eatery will be home to the park’s Starbucks location and will serve up plenty of counter-service classics with a more worldly twist. We’ve already gotten a chance to spot the full menu and we can’t wait to try out the French Bistro Burger, the Banh Mi Burger, the Curry Spice Pizza, and more!
An exact opening date has yet to be announced but we have taken a peek at some of the details INSIDE the restaurant. Much of the design is inspired by the history of EPCOT. It will be pretty cool to see (and taste!) the finished product.

3. Roundup Rodeo BBQ
And finally, a restaurant that has been on the horizon for some time has been announced as opening later this year! Roundup Rodeo BBQ is the Toy Story-inspired table service restaurant set to open in Toy Story Land in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
The story behind this spot is that guests are dining in a toy rodeo arena created by Andy in his backyard. The menu will be filled with barbecue fare (if you couldn’t tell by the name). Originally, it was set to open in 2020 but was delayed due to the 2020 park closures and construction halts.
But Disney has CONFIRMED that the spot will be opening in 2022! There’s not yet an opening date or season for this spot, but we sure are looking forward to chowing down on barbecue (and basking in the AC) in Toy Story Land.

And those are the upcoming restaurants that we’ll get to try out THIS YEAR. But more restaurants like The Cake Bake Shop have been announced for 2023. So even more new food is on the horizon! We can’t wait to explore all the new eats and you know you can expect all the opening news — and full reviews when they DO open — right here. Stay tuned!
