Disney’s Star Wars themed cookie sandwich, the Wookiee Cookie, is beloved by many (including us!).
This Oatmeal Cookie with cream filling has been satisfying guests at Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Backlot Express since 2019. Since then, it’s also made an appearance in Disneyland! We love the Wookiee Cookie, but when we went to Hollywood Studios in the summer of 2022, we noticed something a little different.
The Wookiee Cookie got a new look in June of 2022! Kinda. It still has the same chocolate belt that looks like Chewbacca’s but the cookies are much thicker than we’ve ever seen them before! The original Wookiee Cookie had pretty standard cookies in terms of thickness. This is what the original looks like!
However, when we visited in mid-June of 2022, we were surprised to see how thick these Wookiee Cookies were looking!
Our reporter gave one a try and said that while the cookie was a little less oatmeal-y, the taste was the same, so they’re still the Wookiee Cookies we know and love, with just a little more cookie to enjoy.

We’ll continue to keep an eye on it and see if there are any other changes, or if this was a one time difference!
When we first saw it, the thickness reminded us of another one of our favorite treats in Hollywood Studios, the Carrot Cake Cookie from Trolley Car Cafe!
That’s all for this Hollywood Studios cookie update! There’s been a ton of other food news in Hollywood Studios, like a new menu at 50s Prime Time Cafe, the buffet returning to Hollywood & Vine, and a new menu coming to Mama Melrose’s, so stay tuned to DFB for more!

I got the same thing about a month ago when I went! It was terribly dry and bland! Huge disappointment 😭

I’m okay with this. I tried one for the first time back in November and thought the ratio of filling to cookie was way off–way too much filling and sugar vs the cookie part, and overwhelmed the taste. And frankly it was WAY too big. I’d have been happier with something smaller for a smaller price. My friends split it 4 ways.

They are just too big, as is the newer version of the carrot-cake cookie. I agree with Susan wishing it were smaller and at a smaller price. I honestly think the thicker “cookies” make it taste different. Classic Li’l Debs are flat cookies, and that carrot-cake cookie in the Writer’s Stop days with the flatter “cookies” was SO much better than the Trilley Car Cafe version that’s too cakey and huge.

I’ve never had a wookie cookie but planning to get one next month when I go. Please keep us up-to-date on how they are making them. I hope they go back to the original because that’s what I’ve been wanting to try. I will try it either way, but DFB, can you keep us up-to-date on this one? Thanks!!

I have an urgent update now that I’m right now in PoP Eats and discovered the Flashback Oatmeal Crème Pie that is FAR OUT so much better than the Wookie Cookie. The cookies are flat and moist, and the filling is perfect. These cookies do have raisins, though, which a lot of people, especially kids, won’t like, but I barely noticed them. It is as large as the Wookie Cookie, so not great for a single human but so SO good.
