Finding it hard to wait for MagicBand+ to officially release this summer? If so, you’re not alone.
MagicBand+ is Disney’s upgraded MagicBand system, and it comes with several upgrades like the ability to interact with the 50th Anniversary character statues and the opportunity to become a Bounty Hunter in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge! But, if you’re not looking to upgrade to MagicBand+, that’s fine too — your classic MagicBand can still be used around Disney World even after the upgrade launches. And, if you’re in the market for a new MagicBand to add to your collection, you’ll want to see the new items we found in EPCOT today!
We stopped by Pin Trader’s at the front of EPCOT today and noticed they had some new MagicBands. None of these are MagicBand+ bands, but we almost don’t even care because the designs are so cute! The first two we found were inspired by EPCOT’s beloved dragon, Figment! Both of the Figment MagicBands are $34.99.
The first MagicBand is white with colorful designs and is inspired by the Journey into Imagination with Figment ride. Of course, it features Figment and the year the attraction launched.
The other Figment MagicBand is for Annual Passholders! It’s bright yellow and features Figment posing while surrounded by creative symbols like music notes and paint buckets. It also says “Passholder” on it!
If you like Coco, then you’ll want to check out the Dante MagicBand! It’s a purple MagicBand with a pop of teal in the center. It shows Dante sitting like the good boy he is, surrounded by various artwork inspired by the movie. You can grab it for $29.99!
And we also spotted this Bo Peep MagicBand, which features some unique artwork. The MagicBand is pink and shows Bo Peep from Toy Story ready for action! This one also costs $29.99.
And those are all of the new MagicBands we found today in EPCOT! If you’re wanting to learn more about the new MagicBand+ coming to Disney World this summer, check out our guide here!
As we mentioned above, MagicBand+ will have some unique features when compared to the traditional MagicBand. It will feature changing lights, haptic vibrations, and gesture recognition.
We actually got to see the new MagicBand+ technology in action at a special preview! Click here to experience it with us! It’ll be able to light up in special colors when you scan into a theme park, interact with the 50th statues (as we mentioned above), and even unlock a fun feature on the Play Disney Parks app to “collect” interactions with these 50th statues.
The MagicBand+ will also take your Star Wars experience to the next level in Galaxy’s Edge. As we noted above, it’ll let you explore a Bounty Hunters activity in the park and unlock some cool features.
MagicBand+ got accidentally released in Disney World ahead of its official reveal, and we actually got to grab one and give it a try. Wearing this new MagicBand+ will feel different than the regular MagicBand you’re used to, so keep that in mind. It’s quite a bit bulkier and bigger.

Disney-“Hey we have this really cool thing that will interact with these 50 statues that are around for the 50th Anniversary!”
Fans-“Great when will it be ready?”
Disney-“Hmm, a little over half through the 50th Anniversary celebration!”
Fans-“Ok, I guess.”

Oh, have no doubt about this at all:
They will discontinue use of the old Magic Bands and force you to buy a new one by the end of the year.
As it is, the Magic Bands serve no purpose for AP holders who can just use their passes, and the dang things never scan right anyway when making purchases. They’re a pain.

Another big money grab for Disney. The Magic bands cost less than a dollar to produce… now they sell them for $29.95
Wow, what a margin. Times 10-20-30 million guests adds up to a lot of money…a Bob Iger legacy…

ermmm… ‘scuse me but Figment was born in 1983 so I need to veto that first band. 2002 was his facelift 😉
