Spaceship Earth at EPCOT might just be one of Disney World’s most iconic sights.
Ahead of Disney World’s 50th Anniversary Celebration, the icon-that’s-also-an-attraction got an upgraded lighting scheme that allows Imagineers to do a lot of creative nighttime light effects. We’ve seen Spaceship Earth with its EARidescent shine on, but we’ve also seen it pay homage to The Muppets and light up in beautiful holiday colors. Now, Spaceship Earth is about to get a patriotic look!
Disney Imagineer Zach Riddley shared photos on Instagram of Spaceship Earth’s new 4th of July look — the icon will light up in red, white, and blue for the holiday weekend!
Riddley wrote, “Spaceship Earth is ready to shine brightly with a very limited-time ambient lighting design celebrating Independence Day ”
If you want to catch this lighting scheme, though, you’ll have to catch it from tonight, July 1st through July 4th. After that, the lighting is gone (until maybe next year for the holiday).
Headed to Disney World for the holiday weekend? Be sure to check out ALL the 4th of July food you can try, as well as make sure you have a park pass reservation for the parks you plan on visiting (except for Magic Kingdom, which is currently unavailable for the 4th).
If you’re one of the lucky guests that DID manage to get a park pass reservation for Magic Kingdom, though, be sure to catch “Disney’s Celebrate America! — A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky on July 3rd and July 4th at 9:20PM.
