We’re headed Down Under to visit the Australia booth at the 2022 EPCOT Food & Wine Festival!
This booth has been around since 1997 and we’re ready to revisit some past favorites and try a dessert with a new spin! Come along with us for a full review.
Menu
The Australia booth menu is not super different this year, but one item did receive some new ingredients, and there are three NEW drinks.
Let’s get to the food!
Eats
All the food options are returning from 2019 and 2021, but one item did get some changes.
The Grilled Sweet-and-Spicy Bush Berry Shrimp with Pineapple, Pepper, Onion, and Snap Peas is back for $6.50, and it’s both gluten and wheat friendly. This entree has a bit of a kick, and we really loved how everything went together with the spicy shrimp flavor. Especially the snap peas!
The shrimp weren’t huge, but they were tender and nice and flavorful. The peppers really level this dish up, thanks to the bit of spice and depth of flavor that they have.
The Roasted Lamb Chop with Mint Pesto and Potato Crunchies is also back, and this has been one of our favorites of the festival. It’s juicy and flavorful, and as a bonus — it’s also gluten and wheat friendly. You can get it for $8.25.
We have some really great thoughts about this one! It was very tender and not too game-y in taste, and we LOVED those potato crunchies. (I mean, who wouldn’t?!) If you’re a fan of lamb, this was actually quite good, and we’d order it again for sure.
The Lamington is a returning dessert from previous years, and this year it has some updated ingredients. This version of the Lamington is Yellow Cake with Raspberry Filling, Dipped in Chocolate and Coconut for $4.50.
The cakes were really dense, while also being incredibly moist. We think this would be a great end-of-night option (if you still have room) and it pairs nicely with the full-meal-style menu that Australia has. However, it’s SUUUPER sweet, so you may want to split it with someone else, especially because the portion size is hefty. It’s a great deal for the price, and those who want a sweet treat will probably love it.
There are several new drinks so let’s check it out!
Beverages
We hope you’re thirsty because there’s a lot to drink! There are two new wines and a new beer, but when we stopped by on opening day, the beer was completely frozen over and undrinkable. (The ONLY thing that’s cold in Florida in July, amirite?!) However, we ordered the Wine Flight for $6.50 to try out one of the new wines!
Our flight came with the Yalumba ‘Y’ Viognier, the Robert Oatley Chardonnay, and the Chateau Tanunda Grand Barossa Cabernet Sauvignon. (Try saying that three times fast!) Of those three, the Yalumba ‘Y’ Viognier was the only new option. We found it to be quite dry, and by the time we got to drink it, it was incredibly warm from the Florida heat. If you’re interested, you can buy a glass of this wine individually for $6, but it probably wouldn’t have been our personal choice for a hot day in EPCOT.

Overall
Despite all the problems with the beverages, we thought the food at this booth was top-tier. The lamb was definitely well prepared and didn’t have the game taste that lamb can sometimes get. The shrimp are a great option for those looking to eat something with a little kick, and the cake is perfect as a sweet treat to break up all that savory or end the night at EPCOT.
Basically, Australia has a little bit of something for everyone! You could take three different people with completely different palettes here and they’d all be able to order something that they like. Hopefully, they’ll just be able to get that beer situation under control! (We’ll make sure to stop by again once the beer situation is fixed to try it out.)
It’s time to say g’day mate to the Australia booth, but keep reading DFB for as we continue to cover the 2022 EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival!
