The MagicBand+ just arrived in Disney World and we’ve been busy exploring all its new features!
If you’re looking for a way to enhance your Disney World experience, the MagicBand+ adds new features such as lights, haptics, gesture recognition, and more perks that interact with your environment throughout the parks. We stopped by one Disney Park to check out how our MagicBand+ interacts with its park icon and here’s what we found!
We visited Disney’s Hollywood Studios to see how the MagicBand+ interacts with the Tower of Terror Beacon of Magic! In case you don’t remember, the Tower of Terror is lit up nightly in honor of Disney World’s 50th anniversary, and the show begins at nightfall with a sequence of colorful lighting until finally displaying the gorgeous lighting you see below. Disney has said that the MagicBand+ will engage with all four Disney Park icons as they transform into Beacons of Magic.
We stopped by for the transformation of Tower of Terror into a Beacon of Magic and our MagicBand+ lit up along with the changing lighting patterns. You can see it in action below!
The Magicband+ not only works with the fireworks in Disney parks, but also with EACH ✨Beacon of Magic✨!

We saw it cycle through a few different lighting patterns. Note that our MagicBand+ was fully charged (remember, you have to charge it daily!) so your mileage may vary if your band needs a charge.
We didn’t feel any vibrations like we have during other nighttime shows, but we did take into account that this wasn’t exactly a big fireworks show like Harmonious in EPCOT or Disney Enchantment in Magic Kingdom. (There are no fireworks with the Tower of Terror Beacon of Magic lighting.)
However, during the Wonderful World of Animation nighttime projection show in Hollywood Studios, our MagicBand did not respond at all, including no lights or vibrations. So at this time, it seems that the MagicBand+ interacts with nighttime events such as the fireworks in EPCOT and Magic Kingdom as well as the Beacons of Magic transformations.
MagicBand+ also interacted with a couple of rides in EPCOT. After we got off of Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, it lit up blue, white, and red — like the French flag!
And once we got off the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind ride, it lit up dark blue…
…and then turned light blue as well.
We’re still testing out all the MagicBand+ features in Disney World so keep following along with DFB as we find out all the things it can do — and how it can enhance your Disney World experience!
