Not all Disney World treats are created equally.
We’ve had some truly incredible and creative snacks in the parks, and we’ve also had snacks that just fell flat. Between holiday parties, special events, and other happenings in Disney World, we often see some over-the-top foods designed to be just as appealing to the eye as they are to the stomach. But sometimes you just want a simple and classic treat — so, come with us to try a NEW ice cream sundae in Disney World!
A NEW Cars-themed treat has zoomed into Landscape of Flavors at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort! The Lightning McQueen Road Gravel Sundae is made with vanilla soft-serve ice cream and chocolate cookie crumbs, chocolate sauce, and a Lightning McQueen Chocolate Coin for $6.49. Sounds simply delicious — let’s find out!
Don’t let the underrated ingredients listed here fool you — this sundae seriously hit the spot. Sure, it’s not super complicated or fancy but sometimes that’s all you need!
The cookie crumbles were a nice addition, though it was more like a cookie dusting and we wished there had been bigger chunks of the cookies for more flavor and texture. The chocolate syrup was a rich and gooey contrast to the creamy vanilla soft serve, and the chocolate coin did give us that little crunch we were after — though it didn’t add a whole lot to the experience.
This treat would be perfect for kiddos — which makes sense considering a large number of families stay at Art of Animation! At $6.49, this is a little on the pricier side for a pretty plain ice cream sundae, but the good news is that it’s not too big so your kids (and you) won’t be overly sugared up!
If you’re looking for something a little more adventurous in your desserts at Disney World, you can probably skip the Lightning McQueen Road Gravel Sundae for something more exciting like a milkshake from Beaches and Cream at Disney’s Beach Club Resort instead!
We’re always on the hunt for the newest and tastiest Disney treats, so be sure to stay tuned to DFB for the latest.
