Disney announced during its third-quarter earnings call in 2022 that its streaming service, Disney+, has again seen a large increase in subscriptions. Currently, Disney+ has 152.1 million subscribers, which is a 31% increase from the same time last year. But an increase in subscribers isn’t the only change we’ll see on Disney+ — Disney has finally announced more information about the new ad-supported tier coming to this streaming service!
Disney previously announced that it would add a new, ad-supported tier to Disney+ soon. Now we have all the details about this change.
Disney has announced new details and pricing for both the ad-free and ad-supported tiers of Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+. The ad-supported version is being called “Disney+ Basic,” and the ad-free version will be “Disney+ Premium.” Disney+ Basic (with ads) will launch on December 8th in the U.S. for $7.99/month. The ad-free version of Disney+ (Disney+ Premium) is going to increase in price by 38%, up to $10.99/month.
The ad-supported version will have all the same content as the ad-free tier, just with advertisements as well. Disney+ Basic will have about 4 minutes of ads every hour.
Ad-supported Hulu is going to increase in price from $6.99/month to $7.99/month, and the ad-free version will increase from $12.99/month to $14.99/month (price increases begin on October 10th). The Disney Bundle (Hulu with ads, Disney+ Premium, and ESPN+) will increase from $13.99/month to $14.99/month. The premium version (Hulu without ads, Disney+ Premium, and ESPN+) will remain at $19.99/month. ESPN+ will increase in price from $6.99/month to $9.99/month beginning August 23rd.

All the streaming and cable services are going up next year. It is expensive to watch TV now. I remember watching classic Disney movies on Sunday night on the Wonderful Worl of Disney on one of the 3 channels we had on our TV. Those 3 channels were free.

Is Disney+ Basic and Disney+ Premium going to be a US-only change or will it be international?

Disney has FINALLY ANNOUNCED another PRICE INCREASE FOR OVER 150 million subscribers. Why do you make it sound like this was something we all were looking forward to. How much is enough for Disney to separate us from our money.
