MagicBand+ is proving to be so popular in Disney World that it’s causing some delivery issues.
MagicBand+ is the new version of the MagicBand technology in Disney World. While it can do the things a regular MagicBand can do, it can also interact with the 50th Anniversary statues, unlock a special Star Wars scavenger hunt, and more. But if you ordered a MagicBand+ to be sent to your home ahead of your upcoming Disney World hotel stay, you might encounter a problem.
A huge thanks to Enchanted Bookings by Ashley (@EnchantedBookings via Instagram) for first alerting us to this. Following her alert, we received a notification on the matter. Our notification was sent to us in relation to a MagicBand+ we ordered through My Disney Experience for a hotel visit that was supposed to start recently.
According to the notice from Disney, they are unable to fulfill our MagicBand+ order in time for our arrival at Disney World. Because of this, the MagicBand+ order will actually be complimentary.Â
Disney notes that if we were charged for our MagicBand+, a refund will be processed. Additionally, the MagicBand+ will still be shipped and will be free of charge.
Disney is also working to correct the issue by sending a $50 Disney Gift Card (digital) that can be used toward the purchase of another MagicBand+ at Disney World, or toward any other purchase.

If you have a Disney World vacation booked and you ordered a MagicBand+ through My Disney Experience as part of your upcoming stay, be sure to look for any email messages from Disney regarding your order. Not everyone may be impacted by this, but it is possible that your MagicBand+ order won’t arrive in time and you may receive a similar message.

Do we know if this is just affecting guests with reservations in August or does this extend to those of us who have a trip planned in September?

When I first received my MagicBand+, I had researched a lot of videos on the setup. It seemed straight forward and easy enough. After 2 days of it, I called Disney for support. I was shunted to 6 different departments and finally got a phone number to call. It was resorts (why I don’t know). The person on the other end went thru the usual script of getting the MB+ to link with the phone but nothing worked. Finally, she said, let’s do it this manually and voila it worked. I asked why this is not part of the procedures or troubleshooting? She said, the cast members were not given a lot of training and some have not even since or touch a MB+. Basically I told her, “You guys are building the airplane while it’s flying then.” We both laughed and I thanked her for helping me. So far, two more bands had to use that procedure to work. BTW, if you lose the connection to the MB+ after you’ve linked it up, restart the phone. Save your angst for other things.

But as long as the stockholders are happy, right? What a joke:
Aren’t they supposed to be fully aware of the timing of demand because of Park Passes? Wasn’t that the whole point?

Hi Kelly! If you haven’t received it by then make sure you tell the front desk of your resort. They can give you a voucher to pick one up from the gift shop if you show them you never received it.
