We’re LIVE at the first Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party of the season in Magic Kingdom. This party is finally BACK after a 2-year hiatus, and we’re loving all the treats, characters, costumes, and trick-or-treating. But the night hasn’t gone perfectly so far — the party hit a couple of bumps in the road!
If you’ve been to Orlando in the summer, you know that random rainstorms are almost inevitable. One such storm hit tonight, and it affected some of the entertainment at the party!
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party features an exclusive fireworks show (Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular), a Hocus Pocus-themed stage show, and the Boo-to-You Parade! The stage show and parade have multiple showings, and the fireworks happen once.
Tonight, the first Boo-to-You Parade was canceled due to rain. It was supposed to run at 9:15PM, but the rain started just before that. We’re hoping the 2nd parade will continue on schedule at 11:15PM!
UPDATE: Disney announced later that Headless Horseman would not be in the Boo-to-You Parade, due to the weather.
In addition, the Not-So-Spooky Spectacular fireworks show was delayed. The fireworks were meant to start at 10:15PM, but Disney announced that they would be pushed back, also due to the rain.
Luckily, the rain started to slow down, and the fireworks were able to start not too much later, around 10:30PM.
The first Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular was delayed, but it ended up running shortly after the delay. The second show was canceled due to weather. This show happens at 8:35PM and 10:45PM.
UPDATE: A second Hocus Pocus show did run in Magic Kingdom after a delay.
The Cadaver Dans were out in Frontierland, interacting with guests and singing spooky songs. They can be found there at 7PM, 7:45PM, 8:30PM, 9:50PM, and 10:30PM.
If there’s rain during the party when you’re there, remember that there are still plenty of indoor activities to enjoy. You can meet characters like Minnie and Daisy over in the Dumbo: The Flying Elephant ride queue, visit the 3D photo ops in the old queue for Stitch’s Great Escape in Tomorrowland, or go on some of the rides that have Halloween overlays.
Disney will do their best to have the parade and shows run on time, but bad weather can delay or even cancel those events. If that happens when you’re there, ask Guest Services about a possible rainy day refund — Disney used to offer this, but they haven’t confirmed if it’s still an option.
