We had a great time on the first night of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party in Disney World. There were tons of new treats to try, ride overlays to test out, and guest costumes galore. However, not everything went exactly to plan.
While we were there, the first Boo-to-You Parade got rained out, the fireworks show was delayed, and one of the Hocus Pocus shows was delayed as well. If this happens to you while you’re at the Halloween Party and you miss one or more of the big events, are you just out of luck? Not exactly — find out how you can FIX this tricky situation here.
If you’re at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party or another after hours type event and some of the entertainment is canceled due to weather, Disney might offer you a “rain check.” Head to a Guest Relations desk and ask about this possibility — they may be able to give you a new party ticket for another night as compensation.
When we were at the party, Disney was offering these rain checks on a case-by-case basis. Although one parade was canceled and there were delays for fireworks and the stage show, all 3 events still happened at some point. Because they all happened (and none were completely canceled), the rain checks weren’t guaranteed for everyone.
At the Guest Relations desk we visited, a Cast Member told us that they were not handing out refunds for this party. Instead, guests could receive comped tickets, which were good for 1-day park admission, any available Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, or any available Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.
Be sure to check with a Cast Member during your visit if bad weather affects the party while you’re there. Remember that politeness can go a long way with Guest Relations.
Important note: Keep in mind that there can be some limitations with these rain check tickets. When we initially spoke with a Cast Member about rain checks they indicated that you could select a date for the comped ticket, but that guests could later change that date if desired. However, we were later informed by multiple Cast Members that once a date is selected for that comped ticket it CAN’T be changed.
It is important to note that Cast Members have now indicated that once you select a date for the comped ticket, it cannot be changed. Be sure to keep that in mind and select that date for the comped ticket carefully if you are eligible and able to receive one.

My party of 6 is going Aug 23rd. I’m bummed it’s sold out. All signs pointed to low crowds for this week and it seems it will be just the opposite. It also looks like a very rainy week. I’m very thankful for this article because I’ve been stressing over the party being a wash out.
