Although Mickey’s Toontown was once a destination in both Disney World and Disneyland, it’s now only located in Disneyland, where it’s undergoing a huge transformation.
Toontown, tucked away in the back of Disneyland Park, closed on March 9th, 2022, and Disney announced plans to add new, interactive spaces, as well as Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, which you can also find in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Disney previously said that ToonTown would reopen sometime in early 2023, and now we have a few new looks at Toontown!
Toontown’s transformation has been described as adding new play experiences, grassy areas for relaxing, a new park, water tables, a fountain, and even a dreaming tree. The experiences will focus on “play, slide, spin, splash, touch, and listen,” giving kids the opportunity to engage in tactile play. Now, Josh D’Amaro has shared some new concept art for Toontown!
If you’re a fan of classic Toontown attractions like Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin and Mickey and Minnie’s houses, don’t worry — they will still be in Toontown! Other attractions, however, like Gadget’s Go Coaster, Goofy’s House, and Donald’s Boat, will be reimagined. Here is a look at the new concept art for Donald’s Boat!
We also got a first look at Goofy’s How to Play Yard. It looks like a ton of fun for little ones and the family to enjoy together.
But that’s not all that we got to see new concept art of! We also got to see inside Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway queue!
The queue looks so detailed and interactive. We can’t wait to check it out!
