The airline industry continues to struggle with the increase in flight demand.
There have been a record number of flight delays and cancellations this year, as well as issues with mishandled luggage and tons of complaints from flyers. Airlines are also dealing with a pilot shortage, and all these things combined have caused airlines to cut back on their number of flights. Now, flights are already getting cut for the busy holiday travel season.
American Airlines, which has already cut flights for the month of September and the fall, has now cut flights for later in the year. According to The Orlando Business Journal, the airline has removed more than 14,000 flights from its schedule for December. That includes dozens of flights into and out of Orlando.
Here’s the thing, though — these cuts are only for the first two weeks of the month of December. However, the airline is expected to make a similar announcement about cuts for the final two weeks of the year. As it stands, the airline plans to have 1,652 flights through Orlando International Airport in December, which is 84 fewer flights than the flights planned for the week before.
This could make traveling during the holiday season considerably more difficult, especially if other airlines follow suit. So if you plan on traveling to Disney World for the holidays, it might be a good idea to book those flights NOW.
It’s also good to know what to do if your flight to Disney World is delayed or canceled. You should also familiarize yourself with Disney World’s cancellation policies, just in case!
