With a few weeks left of the Disney Holiday Season, you still have plenty of time to head on over to the Disneyland Resort to taste some of the special holiday offerings. Read about some of the fun eats and events happening this year on our 2012 Disneyland Holiday page, and check out even more below…
And even if you aren’t a candy cane or egg nog fan, it’s worth a trip just to see the decor. I mean come on, look at this:
I recently visited Disney’s California Adventure to get a sampling of all the yumminess the resort has to offer this season — and let me tell you, there are some pretty tasty treats.
Both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure are carrying a line of holiday caramel apples. Choose from a festive Mickey or Minnie, or go for the cute snowman complete with chocolate Mickey ears and a sour belt scarf!
Both parks are also carrying a variety of Christmas Cupcakes, including this chocolate peppermint one! The frosting is whipped and infused with peppermint flavor.
It was by far my most favorite part of the cupcake. Warning though: with that bright green and red frosting, your tongue stands no chance against staining…
Traditional chocolate cake cupcakes with red & white vanilla frosting topped with chocolate Mickey or Minnie Santa hats are also available at both parks.
Snowman Marshmallow Wands can also be found throughout the parks this holiday season.
I had actually not had one before that night. As a special treat, I got to learn how they are made and actually decorate my own.
Marshmallow wands start with 3 marshmallows on a stick. They are then dipped in gooey caramel and dipped again in white chocolate.
After they have cooled, the fun starts. Frosting is used as “glue” to add the sour belt scarf (Air Heads Xtremes), M&M Buttons, along with chocolate chip eyes, nose and a mini chocolate Mickey ears hats.
Despite my snowman’s crooked spine (which was out of my control), I think I did a pretty good job!
The best part, though, was eating him. The caramel, marshmallow, chocolate combo is fabulous.
There are also a handful of special items that are specific to certain spots.
One that I was very excited about was the Pear and Cherry Cream Cheese Ugly Pie that is being featured at Flo’s V8 Cafe in Cars Land. Both sweet and tart with a perfectly crumbly crust, these little pies were definitely one of my favorites of the evening.*
Please forgive the funky colors in the next few photos. The lighting in this room was constantly changing colors. Pretty to watch, but not great for taking photos.
Cocina Cucamonga over in the Pacific Wharf area of Disney California Adventure is featuring Gingerbread Mickey Cookies. Soft — and with a pretty good kick of ginger — the chocolate coating Mickey face adds a sweet flavor that balances out the spice.
In addition to the Mickey Gingerbread Cookie, Cocina Cucamonga is also offering Harvest Fruit Bread Pudding.
Served warm, and filled with apples & cranberries, the bread pudding comes topped with cream and cranberry sauce. The crumbled topping made the dish seem more like a “Crisp” type dessert than a bread pudding, which I actually enjoyed.
Golden Vine Winery is serving up a Butternut Panna Cotta that is absolutely delicious.
Thinking that I wasn’t going to enjoy this dish (I was a bit unsure about “butternut” in a dessert) I was completely surprised to find that the panna cotta was actually one of my favorites.
The butternut tasted much more “fruity” than I expected, almost mango-ish — and the vanilla creme it was layered with was amazing. Top it with a chocolate Mickey face and you’ve got a winner!
Another specialty treat being offered at Disney California Adventure are the holiday flavored handmade gourmet marshmallows in Peppermint and Egg Nog being served up at the Trolley Treats candy kitchen.
But guess what? These ones are so fun, they deserve their own post. SO, you’re going to have to wait just a bit on that one!
In the meantime, enjoy this adorable photo of Mickey and his pal Pluto dressed up in their holiday best!
A big thank you to our friends at the Disneyland Resort for inviting myself and my family over for a fun filled evening. Don’t forget to check out our 2012 Disneyland Holiday Dining page for more details!

Thank you Heather for all your reports! I find it so informative and helpful on where to eat, and have found all your advice I have used being spot-on. 🙂
I want to ask are the Mickey demitasse mousse cups available this year? And if so where? I have seen and bought the Minnie ones, but would love a Mickey one if it is available.
Heather Sievers says
@Pamela – Thank you for your kind words! So great to know I’ve been helpful. I actually haven’t seen those this year, but I haven’t looked for them either. I will see if I can get any info and get back to you. I am in the parks 4 days this week so I should be able to find out.

Hi Heather.
Does the Disneyland Resort do these food events often to showcase upcoming food and desserts? Besides you, who are the lucky people who get to go to these things and sample future goodies? Thank you for blogging about them. I truly enjoy reading about it, and you never dance around the truth! Thank you!

Okay, this Saturday thanks to you Heather, I am buying the marshmallow Disney snowman stick. I may even make my own at home later!
Please let me know if you see the Mickey demitasse. I missed out last year Heather, and frankly, though the Minnie version was cute, the taste was ho-hum.

So excited about the egg nog marshmallow. I was going to grab one yesterday for breakfast but I was in the park early and had to run over and get in line for candy canes(got two!!!!). Also want to try out the pie at Flo’s and the Panna Cotta.
Side note, I have seen the Mickey demitasse cup at Jolly Holiday, and was offered it as a dessert at Blue Bayou.
Today is Yule log and left over 24 layer cake from my birthday yesterday!!!!
Heather says
@Pamela – Thanks to reader Spencer, I just found out you can get them at Jolly Holiday or Blue Bayou, so they ARE in the parks! : )
@Spencer – Awesome that you got candy canes! AND Happy Birthday!
