It’s Hispanic Heritage Month, and Disney World is celebrating in a huge way — with FOOD!
We’ve been making our way all over the resort trying everything, too — we’ve had Birria Tacos, a Bruno-themed “cupcake,” a beautiful Mirabel cupcake, and more! Now, we’re heading over to EPCOT to try another new snack — Chochinita Pibil.
So what exactly IS Cochinita Pibil? Well, it’s a traditional slow-roasted pork dish. In Disney’s snack, it’s citrus-marinated pulled pork served on corn tortillas with pickled red onions and a mango habanero relish, served with a side of corn esquites.
Remember those Birria Tacos we mentioned above? Well, THIS is what we wanted them to be! The corn on this was sweet and crispy, and we loved the spicy mayo topping — it provided a nice contrast to the tacos. Y’all — the citrus flavor on the pork — it was SO nice, especially with the mango habanero slaw. We will say that the presentation is a little messy, but we didn’t mind!
Warning, though — these are a little spicy (more than the usual Disney spicy), so you might want to keep that in mind. We thought the mango really balanced out the heat, though.
The pickled onions were a nice addition for crunch and didn’t overpower the rest. Basically, this might just be the best taco in all of Disney World. There, we said it!
You can grab this now for $10.50 from Choza de Margarita — it will be available through October 15th. We’re still making our rounds around Disney World to try even more Hispanic Heritage Month snacks PLUS Halloween snacks, so stay tuned to DFB for more reviews.
Meanwhile, the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival is still happening, too — you can read our reviews of ALL the food booths here!
