All day we’ve been shouting a huge Happy 40th Anniversary to EPCOT!

We’ve been taking you along with us as we checked out the commemorative guide map we got, saw all the merchandise available (and the LONG lines for it), and we made sure we had the perfect spot to see the big finale tonight. Tonight, EPCOT lit up in a new way during the Beacons of Magic show, and we were front and center for it!
Spaceship Earth got some new lighting effects for this very special Beacons of Magic show, and we were so excited to see what the Imagineers cooked up.

Only true EPCOT fans will know what’s on Spaceship Earth now — that’s right, it’s the EPCOT logo!

The show plays One Little Spark from Journey Into Imagination with Figment, plus we noticed music from Illuminations (the old nighttime spectacular at EPCOT), and there’s even a quote from Walt Disney!
So pretty
Disney did not say if this would happen for one night or for several nights but either way, there will be a Beacon of Magic each night. If it’s not the 40th anniversary version, we spotted an EPCOT Food & Wine Festival show when the festival kicked off this summer!

What an amazing show! We love seeing Spaceship Earth light up, especially when it’s for special occasions. The addition of the lights is cool, no doubt, but I prefer the pre-lighted Spaceship Earth with the natural and projected lighting. I have some fabulous pictures of “The Ball” in its pre-construction look blown up to poster size throughout my house and business. An iconic look that has now become commercialized instead of idolized for all time.
