Close your eyes and imagine sailing on a Disney Cruise Line ship. The smell of the ocean, the light breeze, the warm sun…amazing.
Now once again picture all of that except…it’s also HALLOWEEN! Disney Cruise Line’s Halloween on the High Seas brings all the spooky fun of the holiday into the ship, complete with special decor, character costumes, trick or treating, and more, so come along with us to see what Halloween on the High Seas is all about!
Halloween on the High Seas is a special holiday cruise you can book on select Disney Cruise Line sailings, featuring the ship transformed into a Halloween wonderland. Sailings typically occur around September and October and we were recently invited to experience the festivities on the Disney Dream!
Halloween Decor
When you step onto the ship, you’ll find Halloween decorations in a variety of spots, like jack-o-lantern stickers on portholes and pumpkin garlands around the atrium. You might also spot something special in the photo below.
It’s the spooky Pumpkin Tree located in the atrium! You can find this tree on every Disney Cruise Line ship, with each ship featuring a different look. On the Dream, the tree trunk was brown with a happy face, with a variety of hanging jack-on-lanterns.
As you make your way around the ship you’ll hear Halloween music, which adds to the fun. The Pumpkin Tree lit up during a show with a spooky storyteller.
Let’s go over some of the activities onboard the ship!
Halloween Activities
Mickey’s Mouse-querade Party is a costume party with trick-or-treat trails, including candy and long lines. On the Disney Dream, this event took place at Cabanas.
The party continued outside on Halloween Party Night, which was kind of like Pirate Night. All the characters wore costumes and we got to see characters perform the story of the Headless Horseman/Ichabod Crane.
Other activities included Halloween Isn’t Just For Kids, where adults can experience costume contests and a Villainous Takeover on the dance floor of adult-exclusive venues. There were similar activities in areas for kids, and Halloween movies were shown at the theaters.
Halloween Characters
In terms of characters, you can meet with a special trio dressed as the Sanderson Sisters from Hocus Pocus! That includes Daisy as Sarah, Minnie as Winifred, and Clarabelle as Mary.
Jack and Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas were also available for meet-and-greets!
What about the food?
Halloween Food
Special themed food and drinks were available around the ship, like Pineapple and Ham Pizza…
…and we got a preview of the Candy Corn Gelato at Vanellope’s Sweets and Treats on the ship.
Now let’s go shopping!
Halloween Merchandise
And if you’re interested in taking home a souvenir, exclusive merchandise is also available, like this Halloween on the High Seas T-Shirt.

I have done 3 of the Halloween Cruises with Disney and they were all great fun. The costumes that the guests bring are awesome. My wife and I, both in our 60’s brought costumes and had a great time. Worth booking if you can.
