A HUGE change has come to Disney World’s hotels.
We’ve already seen Disney introduce more of its characters into select hotel rooms, announce lobby changes for the iconic Grand Floridian Hotel, and make other updates to its hotels. But now a feature that many fans knew and loved from Disney World visits of the past is BACK.
Years ago, overnight self-parking at Disney World’s hotels was FREE for hotel guests. But Disney later changed things and introduced overnight parking fees for those staying at Disney World’s hotels, which varied in cost depending on what level of hotel you’ll be staying at.
Now, things have changed again!
Overnight self-parking is FREE once again for guests staying at Disney World’s Resort Hotels. This change went into effect on the evening of January 10th.
Disney shared, “This is a Disney difference many of you have asked us to bring back, and we’re happy to reintroduce it to make your vacation a little easier and more affordable.”
So, say “goodbye” to that overnight parking fee at Disney World’s hotels!
In terms of other hotel considerations, remember that Disney World Resort Hotel guests also get FREE standard parking at all Disney World theme parks. Plus, those staying at Disney World hotels get access to perks like Early Theme Park Entry, free Disney transportation to the parks, and earlier access to Individual Lightning Lanes.

What other Disney perk do you think they should bring back? Tell us in the comments!
Dave says
This is good news. Now let me into the resorts as a day guest to enjoy dining without any hassle.
Nottie says
Is parking in the parks free as a on property guest as well? It used to be if you had a car and stayed on property, there was a printout of your name, hotel and length of stay you kept in your dash and it got you into the parks as well.
kitty says
since good neighbor hotels get the other transportations perks like free buses, early entry, etc, does this mean holiday inn parking will now also be free? i’m going in september and this would be faaaaantastic news for me lole
June says
This is great news. If you are staying at a Disney hotel parking should have always been free. Someone is listening.
Steven Haberman says
This is a great step forward, but what about us people who fly in and don’t park. PLEASE bring back the MAGICAL EXPRESS!
CiCi says
I am totally shocked. Now bring back the FastPasses!
Stephanie says
Thank goodness! I am So happy about this change!
Laurel Lane says
Yahoo! If you keep this perk and do away with park reservations, I’m there!
Jacqueline says
This is a nice step in the right direction. Next is goodbye Genie welcome back FP and welcome back Tables in Wonderland. Just two more on my wish list !
Philip Sims says
Will this include the Swan and Dolphin hotels? I know they don’t count as Disney resort hotels but you get the same perks so hopefully they are included in this too
Jennifer says
This is great especially since they cut Magical Express. When you charge for parking and cut transportation to your resort from the Airport you basically say – we don’t want you here. So at least this gives people something to make getting to the resort convenient.

I am extremely happy about this… However; with this new accoutrement I see the hotel prices are going up sooo parking does not seem to be free. Seriously I have never seen the prices at the supposedly cheap All Stars at a constant $150 a night 🙄😮 . We have stayed at all the hotels with the exception of Grand Floridian, Grandistino tower and the camp grounds. Recently stayed at Port Orleans French Quarter. I have recently been looking at Wilderness Lodge which we have also stayed at quite a few times. $500 ! This is quite a bit more than I have ever seen before. Where Disney givith Disney takith away! That’s how I see this! There was two stays on the calendar that I found at $350.00 that’s it. Already booked that.
Mary Kosloske says
Where Disney Givith Disney takith away! The $350 a night that I was referring to was at Wilderness Lodge. Sorry! Now seemingly$500 a night!
Ira says
This isn’t what I read today. No change to hotel parking fees, only free parking at the parks if you’re a resort guest.
Which is no big deal because if you’re staying at a resort hotel, you’ll probably use their transportation system anyway.
I have a million dollar idea that everyone will love. Anyone know how to contact corporate? Snail mail okay.
nick says
Was nothing but a money grab. The GENIE is great for the very wealthy. You squeeze long enough the passholders will leave!! Universal has a new park soon and a kid friendly one soon. Easy to say goodbye!!
Tiffany says
Now Disney is moving in the right direction. Just a few more things to bring back, to get me back.
K spangler says
Great ! That fee was just unbelievable. Problem remains at swan and dolphin though ! They are still charging $36 per night
Hopefully they will change this soon
Jacqueline says
I saw someone’s comment about Swan and Dolphin. That’s a great point. I hope they go with Disney and stop charging for parking. If not it’s going to be Marriott to blame for that.
DFB Gigi says
Hi Ira! If you go to Disney’s website there’s a blurb at the top about how overnight resort parking is complimentary: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/guest-services/parking/
Kathleen says
Contacted the swan
It’s a big NO !!! From Marriott
Bad business folks.
Might be rebooking elsewhere if it’s not too late to save $170!
Deb says
Our family loves to visit WDW every year, but we cannot always go into the Parks. We can make a week at WDW just as fun by “resort hopping” and enjoying the perks there – dining and shopping, etc. We could always go into a resort, park for free and then spend our money there. Last year, we had to have a reservation for dining in order to park for free. Is that going to change anytime soon? Paying for parking now each time we go to a different resort (sometimes three a day!) is going to keep us away. Disney may loose the parking $$$ but they will also be losing our money used for dining and shopping and will keep us from coming to WDW at all.

100% agree. We love to eat and shop all around the Disney property and several other times a year. We are at Universal Studios right now. Staying and eating and shopping here as well. Makes perfect sense especially when you are older and walking around the parks for the over 100 times you have been there is actually old.
