One thing you can count on in Disney World is change. Things are constantly changing. New attractions open. An entire park gets a big transformation. Hotels are getting upgrades.
Sometimes, though, rides close, and that’s the case with Splash Mountain, which will close FOREVER as of January 23rd. Obviously, that means that a LOT of folks are coming to Disney World to ride Splash Mountain one last time.
We’re already starting to see those guests in line for Splash Mountain today! When we stopped by the ride in Magic Kingdom, we noticed that the wait time was already at 2 hours for the standby line!!! This is the longest wait time we’ve seen all day in the park!
Then we checked out the Lightning Lane, which seemed pretty long — not quite 2 hours long, but there’s still more of a wait than usual in this line. Keep in mind, this will still be an expedited wait compared to the standby line.
But those aren’t the only lines — there’s also a line to get a Pressed Penny with Splash Mountain on it nearby! We get it — it’s an inexpensive commemorative souvenir.
Pro Tip: If you want to grab a Splash Mountain Pressed Penny, go under the train station — you’ll find a Pressed Penny machine there with almost NO line. There are different sets at each of these machines, but they both carry Splash Mountain designs.
There's currently a line for pressed pennies in the Splash Mountain queue, but if you head juuuuust under the train station you can find another one with little to no wait! 💦 pic.twitter.com/5edaSCvhV7

Here’s a look at the Pressed Pennies available — 3 of them are Splash Mountain at this machine with 1 Big Thunder Mountain Railroad design.
UPDATE: By 6PM, Splash Mountain was listed as temporarily closed in the My Disney Experience app.

We expect lines will be even longer tomorrow, so if you’re headed to Splash Mountain, be prepared to wait. After tomorrow, we’ll just be counting down the days until the ride is reimagined as Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, but that won’t open until at least 2024.
