Disney has changed a lot over the years, and even more since COVID-19.
Fast passes changed to Lightning Lane and Genie+, ticket prices have increased drastically, and park reservations became mandatory, and yet crowds are at an all time high. Each of these things can be frustrating, especially for guests who are returning to Disney after not going for several years. We asked our readers which BIG change they’d like to see happen at Disney World, and the answer probably won’t surprise you.
These are the top three answers given by readers when we asked which things should change at Disney.
No More Park Passes!
In the past, guests were able to purchase a ticket to Disney and be able to visit any park of their choosing without a prior reservation. Many guests loved the spontaneity that this allowed and many considered this to be part of the magic of Disney.
Now, guests must purchase a park pass to a specific park, based on currently open reservations. Guests can no longer be spontaneous with their park visits and realistically need to plan park trips weeks in advance in order to visit the parks they know they’ll want to visit.
Many of our readers want the Park Pass/Reservation system to GO! You want that Disney spontaneity back, and sometimes — we’re right there with ya.
Answering your BIGGEST Questions About Disney World in 2023
Lower Ticket Prices
Disney ticket pricing has seen a drastic increase over the years, and many of you agree that this makes the magic less accessible.
TEN DAYS at Disney World in 2013 ($330) costed less than THREE DAYS at Disney World in 2023 ($520). Many readers think this is unfair, as Disney vacations simply aren’t possible to many families.
While Disney does advertise themselves as a “luxury theme park,” we do agree that the Disney magic should be accessible to all. These price increases are HUGE.

Add A Fifth Park
Crowds at Disney World are at an all time high, and it can be FRUSTRATING. There isn’t really a “slow season” anymore, and many of you agree that a fifth park could do the trick when it comes to thinning those crowds.
Lately, crowds have been so dense at each Disney park that it seems that adding another park could be the only option if we have any hope at seeing smaller crowds and shorter wait times.
Lots of you worry that if a fifth park IS added, though, ticket prices would only increase as well as Disney park visitors because they’re swarming to see something new.
Ugh! We understand why people LOVE Disney, but these CROWDS!

I especially agree with the top 2 gripes but I would also like to see the 2pm park hopper time gone completely at Disney World but at the very least, make the allowable park hopper time earlier….11am like it is in Disneyland
I miss the days when we could be spontaneous rather than to have to plan every minute ☹️

If we go to Disney now we feel that they’re are two choices. Stay in a three to eight hundred dollar hotel room or stay elsewhere and spend that money on the parks. Getting crazy to try to afford both and eat. I believe that has become too expensive for the average American consumer and that is a shame!

Yes I think a 5th gate would be good, but the park reservation system has to go ! It’s far to unrealistic to expect customers to book there days , absolutely shocking idea whoever thought that up , I can’t actually believe they got away with it to be honest .

I think if there going to charge these ridiculous prices which our family has been saving for 2 yrs now to go and stay on property. The least they can do is bring back fast pass for resort staying guests free of charge, after all that’s why we pay 250- for a motel 6 style hotel room but now they took that away too.

My recommendation would to
1. BRING BACK THE FREE FAST PASS ( three rides per day in all of the parks). Eliminate the Genie Plus and the Individual Attraction

A difficult place to be when you have actually built a better mouse trap… and now you can’t handle it.

Yes please do away with the reservation system and bring back fast passes and park hopping. Here’s an idea – since Disney (& only Disney) knows the total capacity of the parks, when that number of park passes have been sold don’t sell anymore. They can still control crowds & cast members
