When it comes to visiting Disney World, planning ahead might be the best advice we can give!
Things are always changing in the parks and resorts, and no two days are alike. We keep up with all the changes so you don’t have to, and we recently shared that you might want to avoid Magic Kingdom today as it’s closing early — but there’s actually a reason you might WANT to visit Magic Kingdom today!
Heads up if you’re planning on heading to Magic Kingdom today — the park will be closing EARLY at 4:30PM!
Disney will sometimes close parks early for Cast Member or private events, and it can really mess up your plans if you’re not prepared for it! But, there may be an advantage to Disney closing its parks earlier than normal…
…lower wait times! Seriously, just take a look at what we’re seeing for wait times in Magic Kingdom today.
Yes, you read that correctly — a 10 minute wait for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (which is essentially just a walk-on!) And you’ll have to wait a short yet spooky 13 minutes for Haunted Mansion.
At one point, the highest wait time listed was just 35 minutes — for the ever-popular Seven Dwarfs Mine Train!
So, it looks like there may still be advantages to visiting a Disney World park on a day it’s closing early. If you’ve got a park hopper ticket, you could always start your day in the park that’s set to close and finish your day in another one that might be open later. And, keep in mind, this hack only works if you don’t plan on staying late in Magic Kingdom and don’t really care about catching the fireworks!
Either way, it’s important to check the Disney World calendar for updates before you plan your trip and as it approaches.
We’ll continue to keep up with wait times and crowds in Disney World, so be sure to stay tuned to DFB for the latest.

Thanks for this great reminder! Sometimes having been to Disney World several times over the years, you forget the little important things you need to do! Checking the calendar is a must do that I had forgotten. Thanks for the tip! It can make all the difference on your Disney World trip! : )
