For many, Magic Kingdom is the epicenter of Disney World. Plenty of the resort’s most recognizable attractions are located in this park!
From family-friendly rides like Mad Tea Party to thrills like Space Mountain, Magic Kingdom has a little something for everyone. It’s also the most popular park at Disney World, and even the lesser-known attractions can rack up long wait times. If you’re trying to hit every one on your wish list you may want to take advantage of Disney’s Genie+ service and use Lightning Lanes!
Genie+ is a paid service that allows guests to access Lightning Lanes, which are separate from the regular Standby Lanes you would normally wait in. For each day you pay for Genie+, you have the opportunity to reserve return windows at different attractions, including traditional rides, some shows, and even character meet and greets. When it’s time to head back for your reservation, you’ll be able to enter the Lightning Lane, which is shorter and faster than the Standby Lane. There are some restrictions when it comes to Genie+: once you’ve booked your first reservation, you can’t make another one until you’ve used it, missed it, or 2 hours (120 minutes) after reserving a previous one if the return time for the first Lightning Lane is more than 2 hours away. This can get a little confusing, so we created a handy guide you can read to learn all about Genie+!
Disney Genie, Genie Plus, and Lightning Lanes: Here’s EVERYTHING You Need to Know!
There are also Individual Lightning Lanes that you can purchase separately from the ones included in Genie+ that grants you access to an attraction’s Lightning Lane directly. These are usually reserved for rides that are in high demand, like Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. You don’t have to buy Genie+ to use an individual Lightning Lane, so if there’s just one attraction that you really want to ride you can pay for that only! Both Genie+ and the individual Lightning Lanes are subject to surge pricing, meaning the price will fluctuate based on demand.
In Magic Kingdom there are 22 attractions available on Genie+, with 2 available as Individual Lightning Lanes.
