We talk a LOT about food here at DFB. We are Disney Food Blog after all!
Whether you’re at Disney World or Disneyland, we love being able to bring you reviews of all the restaurants at your disposal. But sometimes, we get the opportunity to check out Disney restaurants from the international parks, so come with us to the Duffy and Friends buffet at Tokyo DisneySea!
Atmosphere
You’ll find the Duffy and Friends buffet inside the Oceano Restaurant inside the Hotel Miracosta. And, the coolest part about the Hotel Miracosta is that it’s located inside Tokyo DisneySea! That’s right, this hotel is actually inside this Disney park.
Oceano is a Mediterranean-themed restaurant inside Hotel Miracosta, and it features gorgeous under-the-sea accents, like these sculptures that remind us of seaweed.
There are “bubbles” on the walls as well…
…and even more seaweed and kelp-like artwork located throughout the dining rooms.
Here’s a look at another seating area, with blue accents that continue the underwater ocean vibe.
We’re here for the food though, right?! Let’s see what’s on the menu!
Menu
You’ll find Oceano along Mediterranean Harbor in Tokyo DisneySea, and Mediterranean cuisine is featured on the menu, either as a buffet or as a full-course meal. Guests can dine on delightful dishes in a unique setting themed to the sea. And, it’s also where you’ll find the Duffy and Friends buffet! This special meal is part of the Duffy & Friends Circle of Friendship celebration happening at Tokyo Disney Resort this spring. The Duffy & Friends menu is available at Oceano through April 9, 2023.
We decided to check out this festive buffet thanks to our friend Heather Sievers (@diningindisneyland), so let’s dig in!
Eats
We stopped by for lunch, and that meant we got to check out the buffet! There were plenty of different options to choose from, most of which featured Mediterranean flavors.
You’ll find small plates featuring avocado dip and chips, some seafood…
…along with various soups — we tried the onion soup and will share more thoughts on that later!
There was Carbonara Pasta…
…and plenty of desserts! Here’s Duffy’s friend CookieAnn…
…StellaLou…
…’Olu Mel…
…and LinaBell!
We tried a little bit of everything, and we really enjoyed it all! Sometimes at Disney restaurants, we’ll find a standout dish here and there, but we rarely like everything we tried — especially at a buffet!
The highlights for us were the onion soup, which had a great onion flavor and the broth was extremely rich; the carbonara pasta was creamy, salty, and wasn’t a true carbonara but still hit the spot; the Lina Bell grapefruit jelly dessert was so interesting and refreshing!
And, if you time your meal right here, you can head out on the balcony for a show on the water during your meal!
Overall
This is a great buffet option if you’re visiting Tokyo DisneySea and are looking for something just a bit different! The Mediterranean cuisine is a step up from your typical theme park food, and we can’t get over the fact that this hotel is actually in the theme park! How cool is that?! We enjoyed everything we tried here and would go back again!
