Well, the 50th anniversary has officially over in Disney World, making way for more 100th anniversary things throughout the resort.
We’ve already seen a lot of 100th anniversary merchandise at Disney World, you can now get popcorn in a 100th anniversary container, and 100th anniversary pressed pennies can be found throughout the parks. Now, though, a resort-specific souvenir has arrived dedicated to 100 years of wonder.
If you’ve stayed at a Disney World hotel, you may be familiar with the resort refillable mugs. These are mugs that you can purchase for $21.99 at each Disney World hotel. Those who have the mug can get unlimited free refills on fountain drinks, coffee, and tea from participating locations at Disney World hotels for the length of their stay up to 14 days.
Previously, the mugs that were available were the 50th anniversary mugs. However, now that the 50th is over, there’s a NEW refillable mug in town — and it’s dedicated to the Walt Disney Company’s 100th anniversary! The new mug is silver and purple (the Disney100 colors) with Mickey and Minnie on it in their 100th outfits. There is also a mug option with a purple handle and lid.
We saw these at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, but they’re probably available at other hotels around Disney World, too. Although we did NOT see any of the old 50th refillable mugs, we can’t say for certain if they’ve been completely phased out yet.
If you’d like to learn more about these refillable mugs, we’ve got a whole FAQ dedicated to them! If you drink a lot of soda, coffee, and tea, these mugs can be a really good value, too. You’ll generally find them at each hotel’s counter service restaurant, along with the beverages you can refill them with.Â

I think it’s supposed to be platinum, not silver. Silver is the 25th anniversary.
USN Veteran says
We bought ours over 25 years ago at the Polynesian. They told us then to bring them back anytime we are there for free refills. We have done that and they have more than paid for themselves over the years. More than likely we will be going sometime later this year and will be bringing them again. FLY NAVY!!!
Debbie says
Hoping Disney will bring back the upgraded stainless steel mug. Do you think they will? We got the Star Wars mugs on our trip in May 2021. We wanted the Skyliner one, but couldn’t find it. I use my stainless steel mug everyday at home. We couldn’t find any on our May 2022 trip. I’m hoping for some Disney Magic on my May 2023 trip and the stainless steel mug is available!!

Currently wt Art of Animation, and as of Saturday morning, there wasn’t a 50th anniversary refillable mug to b seen. Only the 100th and a Buzz Lightyear/Lightning McQueen mugs were available.
Brandon says
Any word on if they will be bringing back the Stainless vacuum sealed Refillable mugs? Those are actually worth the cost. And I can actually use those when I return home.
Dottyanna says
Never! We never used them much when they were free because we used to stay at moderate resorts and it felt like miles to go get a mug of coffee in the morning! There is already so much walking at WDW, we are loathe to add another mile or so just to get a drink. IF they allowed you to get free drinks in the parks, we might consider it, but we are big water drinkers, so maybe not!
Mandi says
@usn, do they need to do something special to have your old ones to work?
With the new machine and the expiration date
Do they have a special tag for it or something?
I find it a good thing to be able to reuse it cause lot of people start to have many and that’s a lot of plastic waste even if we sometime enjoy to use them at home too.
Meg says
We have tons of these refillable mugs but once your stay is over, they were never refillable. Not sure what USN Veteran is talking about. At the bottom of the mug there is a chip that deactivates once your stay is over. We also stay at the Polynesian as that is our DVC home.

I also bought refillable mugs at DixieLanding years ago (now Port Orleans Riverside). Was also told they were good for lifetime. When I contacted Disney regarding bringing mugs on an upcoming trip, they said that I can NOT use those mugs. I would like to ask USN Veteran how he uses old mugs since they now have chop in the mugs. Thanks for the info. You would think that Disney would keep their word!
Essie says
Between the two, I actually like the 50th better than the new 100 mugs. I think the artwork is nicer.
CC says
I am so happy they changed the lid back to the original! The ones for the 50th with the mouse head were terrible! My kids kept spilling drinks when they would drink out of them. I did love the artwork on the 50th, but the lids were awful. Liking the new art work as well on the 100th.
Ron says
Disney extends the 50th and the 100th anniversary to sell more merchandise and snacks at higher prices. Disney, do something to reduce the cost to your guests. BRING BACK THE FREE FAST PASS.
Ed L. says
Remember when the refillable mug was actually the size of a mug?
Steven LaSelva says
Can’t wait to pick up some of these new mugs when I get there in July!
Ron says
Gigi, how much smaller is the mug today than in past years
DFB Gigi says
Hi Ron! How far back are we talking? In 2010 they were 16oz mugs, which is what they are today.
Lee says
We got 2 on our last trip! After a week both had the paint coming off of them. I wanted to bring them home as souvenirs. 😞
Carolyn says
Gigi, can you sprinkle a little pixie dust my way and send me 3 refillable mugs, 1 figment popcorn bucket, 2 Pirates of the Caribbean tee shirts, 2 Haunted Mansion tee shirts and Oh, if anything in Villians, 1 of each.
That would be AWESOME SAUCE!!!
DFB Gigi says
Hi Carolyn! Unfortunately, I can’t even buy all that for myself, haha. Fingers crossed and sending all the good vibes your way though!
Tami says
I love them but wish they would come to the parks without refills. I can’t afford to stay at any of the hotels yet, starting to save though. I was at WDW on October 10th & just wanted one as a Souvenir. The Cast Member was really nice with her answer & I was a little disappointed. But again, start saving for another trip so I can get a hotel room as well as a ticket : )

You’re not kidding the refillable mugs have changed. Does anyone else recall the holiday mugs of 25+ years ago? They were wider at the bottom so they weren’t apt to tip over and they had air space between the beverage and the outer surface, allowing use of the mugs without burning yourself. i have a couple of them put away. Pinocchio and, I think, 101 Dalmations.
