Graceful princesses, colorful parade floats, catchy music — Disney’s Festival of Fantasy parade has it all! If you’ve ever spent an afternoon in the Magic Kingdom, you’ve likely caught at least part of this fan-favorite daytime parade. For little ones, it’s a must-see!

If you’re planning a visit to the Magic Kingdom soon, a part of the Festival of Fantasy parade might look a little different. Let’s talk about it!
Earlier this week, an unexpected fire incident happened during Disney’s Fantasmic! show in Disneyland. Luckily, no one was hurt, and the authorities were able to control the fire quickly.
The Maleficent dragon caught on fire!
After the fire, the upcoming Fantasmic! showtimes were canceled in Disneyland, and Disney released a statement on the company’s plans going forward. To sum it up for you, Disney plans to investigate the fire and suspend fire effects similar to those used at Disneyland until further notice. Where else are similar effects used, you may ask? Disney World!
Maleficent might be a little less fiery for now!
According to Scott Gustin, there will be a temporary suspension of fire effects on the Maleficent float in the Festival of Fantasy Parade at Magic Kingdom. For now, Maleficent will be a little less fiery than normal.

Luckily, Disney World’s Fantasmic! show uses different technical effects, so the show will not change. The Maleficent dragon parade float in Festival of Fantasy will be the only prop in Disney World that is impacted by this temporary change. Disney did not share an exact timeframe on how long the fire effect will be paused.

This is not the first time the Maleficient Dragon has caught fire isn’t it?
No point in lining up for this parade then. Disney could always put lights on the dragon and have a night time parade or is that happening just a pipe dream at this point. 😔
