We get it. When you spend so much time and money on a Disney World trip, you want it to be as close to perfect as it can be.
The thing is, sometimes not-so-magical things happen in the world’s most magical place. Rides close temporarily, My Disney Experience has issues, crowds take over the parks, and more. These things could make you mad, and rightfully so. Some people, though, get mad over the oddest things in Disney World.
Change
Change is NOT easy, especially if you like things a certain way in Disney World and have been going to the park for YEARS. Over the past three years, there has been a LOT of change at the resort. We’ve heard from our readers time and again about how much they dislike Genie+, although it’s been around since 2021.
Many guests also get mad about the Park Pass Reservation system, which has been around since 2020 (and doesn’t seem to be going away anytime soon — if ever — although the rules have since been relaxed a bit for Annual Passholders). We also see guests get mad about the park hopping after 2PM rule that’s been around since 2021 and Magical Express going away.
Perhaps the BIGGEST change we saw the most complaints about, though, was when EPCOT introduced its 50th Anniversary nighttime show, Harmonious. Many guests really didn’t like the barges and other equipment that took up residence around World Showcase Lagoon.
However, those barges and all that Harmonious equipment are slowly being removed from World Showcase Lagoon, now that EPCOT Forever has returned as the temporary nighttime show, with a new 100th anniversary show on the way.
In general, lots of people get upset about any and all changes happening in Disney World. And with the parks and hotels changing so frequently, we understand that the constant updates can be frustrating!

Paper Straws
You might think that something as small as a straw wouldn’t elicit such an emotional response from people, but you would be wrong. Disney has been switching to paper straws for many of its drinks, and, well, we do get that drinking from a paper straw can be challenging.
It’s all to create to make things more environmentally friendly in Disney World, and there’s a very easy way to get around it. Bring your own metal straws with you to the parks. You can rinse them out when you’re done AND reuse them, which is also environmentally sound.
Other things Disney has done recently to be more environmentally friendly include ditching the small bottles of shampoo and conditioner in the hotels for larger refillable bottles of toiletries. If you don’t like that, it’s easy just to bring your own preferred shampoo and conditioner from home in travel-friendly bottles.

Weather
One change that can grind many Disney World visitors’ gears is the weather. The weather in Florida is unpredictable, and understanding that and preparing for it is your best defense against it ruining your trip. Check the weather forecast BEFORE you leave to get an idea of what temperatures to pack for.
But weather can also ruin your plans even if you ARE prepared. Outdoor rides will often close in bad weather. To get around that, have a backup plan of things to do or other things to ride. Preparation here IS key. You can’t control the weather, but you can control how you’ve planned for it.
