Carousels, cars that can swim, and movie theaters — Disney Springs is much more than a place to go shopping! Some Disney fans may still refer to this place as Downtown Disney, though Disney Springs has changed a LOT since the days of Downtown Disney. Between all the new restaurants, snack spots, and shops, Disney Springs is constantly changing.
Recently, we saw one store close its doors while another spot celebrated its grand opening. There’s a lot to keep up with, and now another store has permanently closed in Disney Springs.
We’ve seen quite a few stores shut down in Disney Springs in 2023. First, there was the Sosa Family Cigars shop over by Salt & Straw; then, more recently, the UGG store closed its doors as well.
As of this May, another Disney Springs location has closed. Near the center of Disney Springs, the Melissa shoe store has officially closed. This shop sold jelly shoes and other accessories made from recyclable materials.
When we got a little closer, we noticed a sign that said, “Something new is coming soon.” At this time, Disney has not shared what will be replacing the Melissa store. For now, we’ll have to wait and see!
Luckily, for all our jelly shoe fans out there, you can still shop for shoes on the Melissa website. In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more!

I’d like to see more affordable options. Unique stores that aren’t in every mall. But not so pricey you just look and go by.

Disney Springs should think about bringing back adult entertainment for the 21+ crowds. Long gone are the Paradise Island days, which would cater to the adults visiting Disney. I say it’s time to bring those clubs back. Unfortunately, Disney is crazy woke today ☹️

No loss frankly I could not understand why anyone would shop in Disney Springs for these.
We haven’t been to DS in several years. Not missing anything.

This is ridiculous I made a comment and now I am asked to comment again.

No surprise another store is closing. The buses drop you off at the high end side that no one can afford, then you have to walk to other end that has World of Disney, Disney Co-Op, Goofy Candy, and the Christmas store. We prefer the other end over the Beverly Hills end. Mostly tourists come to Disney Springs, and they have to be selective (wondering if items will fit in the suitcase).

It was called Pleasure Island back in the day and it did cater to a more young adult following. Been there many times back then, a lot more fun than the ultra expensive shopping and questionable food that was way over priced. It was fun back then, now it is an effort to survive the crowds because there is nothing else to do.

Probably half of the overpriced “Specialty” stores could close and not be missed.

I will admit that I never shopped here and wasn’t even aware of its presence. That being said, I am sorry to see another (overpriced) store close. I would love to see DS be so thing other than a complete money pit. I love yhr shops (in general), but the prices make me long for a traditional shopping mall, especially given how niche some of the stores are.
I have and will always miss the Ugg store having custom diamonte (swarovski?) jewel options. Once they stopped that, they were just overpriced boots and slippers.
Will says
Typo. The name is “Will”.

We totally ignore the high price end totally. We enjoyed browsing through the Pleasure Island and West Side areas, but the “I wanna be your pretend local shopping mall” area is trash.
We only enjoy spending time in the Marketplace area, since it’s still has so much of the original LBV Shopping Village and much of the Disney vibe. Our favorite restaurants and Disney shops are located in the Marketplace!!
