Sometimes, we need an outlet for our energy. Let’s be honest, we all feel a little extra peppy and excited when we first enter the Disney World parks, and our energy tends to deplete as the day goes on — those Disney parks tire us out!
If you’re looking for a spot to take your little ones to burn a little energy after devouring a bag of cotton candy, we’ve got some GREAT news for you, parents!
Over in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, The Boneyard Fossil Fun Site just reopened! The closure lasted quite a while — this archeological-themed playground was closed from May 1st-June 12th, per the Disney World calendar.
Now that it’s open again, we went to check it out to see if there were any notable changes! According to a Cast Member, there are a few small modifications, including updated audio, refurbished sun screens, and repaired flooring.
Inside, the playground is filled with places to slide, climb, and play. If you’ve got a dinosaur-lover, they will LOVE this little play zone.
The Boneyard is typically open from 9-7, though the hours may change depending on when Animal Kingdom opens (and closes).
There are lots of things to see and do in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, but sometimes, all your little ones want is to PLAY, which is where The Boneyard can come in handy (especially around nap time).
We’re happy to see this spot back up and running in Disney World! In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more.

My son was two when we took him to Animal Kingdom. He loved the boneyard so much, we pretty much spent the whole day there. He’s all grown up now, living and working in Washington DC. I miss him so much. The memories we made in Disney World are priceless.
