We’ve had a LOT of tasty snacks, y’all, so now it’s time for DESSERT.
We’re visiting every single food booth at the 2023 EPCOT Food & Wine Festival. We stopped by The Fry Basket, the Brazil booth, and The Alps (plus TONS of other booths), and now it’s time for the Belgium booth! Are the Belgian waffles worth the trip? Or will the smoked gouda mashed potatoes steal the spotlight? Let’s find out.
Menu
Over at the Belgium booth, you’ll find a couple of different Belgian waffles along with a savory dish — the Beer-Braised Beef (served with mashed potatoes). There are also a couple of new beers this year!
Now that we’ve taken a look at the menu let’s EAT! Get ready to take some notes, people, because we have thoughts we NEED to share.
Eats
Alright, now we’re adults here, so we’re going to follow the rules (no matter how badly we want to dive into those desserts!). You have to have dinner before your dessert, so we grabbed the Beer-Braised Beef served with Smoked Gouda Mashed Potatoes for $6. Last year, we thought this dish was well-balanced with strong, tasty flavors. So how does it hold up in 2023?
Finally — BELGIUM! 🇧🇪
Would it be a visit to Belgium without a Belgian waffle? Make it TWO!
You can get a Belgian waffle with Warm Chocolate Ganache 🍫 OR Berry Compote and Whipped Cream 🍓

We’re starting off STRONG with the Beer-Braised Beef! The beef was cooked exactly how we like it: tender and juicy. Each bite was nice and juicy, so every bite was hearty and flavorful. Oh, and the mashed potatoes were a win, too! Our mashed potatoes were creamy — not chunky — and whipped up to create a smooth well-mixed texture. This was an enjoyable little meal! Yes, we admit, it might not look as pretty as some of the other snacks we’ve tried, but trust us, this was a good one.
This year, the waffle may look a little different (the toppings look slightly different), but it tastes just as we remembered. It’s a light, fluffy Belgian waffle with sweet whipped cream and standard chocolate sauce. Once again, this isn’t necessarily anything spectacular, but we can’t knock it too hard — it’s a chocolate waffle! We like chocolate, we like waffles, and if you like those things, you will like this one, too. Sometimes all you need is a simple treat in EPCOT!
Finally, we got the Belgian Waffle with Berry Compote and Whipped Cream for $5. Last year we preferred the chocolate ganache version to this one. But can the same be said for 2023?
The Berry Compote is carrying the team in this dessert; the strawberries were simply divine! In fact, we found them to be some of the freshest berries we’ve had at the festival this year; they weren’t mixed with the typical berry jelly substance you see in quick-service Disney desserts. Instead, we enjoyed the fresh taste of berries, which added some much-needed flavor to the plain waffle.
You know what’s next: DRINKS!
Drinks
In terms of drinks on this menu, we got the beer flight for $10. This came with Brasserie D’Achouffe Houblon Chouffe IPA (New), Delirium Red Fruit Belgian Ale, and Brewery Van Steenberge Gulden Draak Tripel Ale (New). We’re happy to see the Delirium Red Fruit Belgian Ale return this year — it was our favorite drink at this booth in 2022!
Now, how was the Brasserie D’Achouffe Houblon Chouffe IPA? Well, we didn’t enjoy this one. It tasted a bit like cough syrup to us, though when it comes to IPAs, people tend to have differing preferences. Beer is one of those drinks that can be pretty subjective, so keep that in mind if you’re debating the Beer Flight served here. You may like it more than we did!
The Delirium Red Fruit Belgian Ale was the only one of the three drinks here to make a comeback this year, and we’re SO happy to see it back on the menu! If Dr. Pepper was a beer, this would be it. It’s got that sweet-yet-root beer flavor hiding just below the sweetness, and we thoroughly enjoyed this drink. Cheers to The Delirium!
Whew! The Brewery Van Steenberge Gulden Draak Tripel Ale has some SERIOUS flavor! You can certainly taste the hops in this one; it reminded us of a fresh espresso shot in coffee. It’s strong but not something we personally enjoyed. That said, you may enjoy it if you don’t mind a good kick in your drink.
You can also get the Belgian Chilled Coffee (non-alcoholic) for $4.75 or the Belgian Chilled Coffee featuring ChocoLat Deluxe Salted Caramel Chocolate Liqueur for $12. Both of these are returning in 2023.
When we had the chilled coffee in the past, we thought it was tasty and rich. It’s a great way to get some caffeine, because we’re going to need it to get through every single booth!
OVERALL
This booth was a success! We’re glad we paid a visit to Belgium; our Beer-Braised Beef was a personal favorite, but the waffles were a fun little dessert to finish our meal. As you’re making your way around the World Showcase, we say give this booth a try!
That’s it for this booth, but there’s a LOT more where that came from!
