We love a good throwback, and this time, we’re throwing it as far back as we possibly can…to opening day of Walt Disney World!
Orange Bird is a popular character in Disney World, with lots of merchandise and treats dedicated to him. But did you know when Magic Kingdom first opened there was a drink dedicated to him? And now you can make it at home!
Disney recently released a recipe for a long-extinct drink from the opening day of Magic Kingdom that you might not even know existed back then. They sent out the recipe to Annual Passholders, but now, we’re opting to pay it forward. Come with us as we walk you through the steps to make an Orange Bird Flip!
This used to be served in Adventureland from the Sunshine Pavilion, right where Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room and Aloha Isle Refreshments currently stand.
It’s pretty simple actually and only requires a handful of ingredients. For one serving you’ll need:
- 1/2 cup of Florida orange juice
- 1 pasteurized raw egg
- 2 tablespoons of lime juice
- 1 tablespoon of honey
- an orange slice
- a mint sprig
Here comes the hardest part of all… just kidding! You actually just throw the juices, egg, and honey into a blender together.
Keep blending at high speed until your drink is “smooth and frothy.”
This is best served straight from blended so be sure to line up your favorite cup or glass to hold your drink.
And there you have it!
You’ve learned how to create this simple and refreshing drink from the very first days of Disney World. We can’t wait to try it out ourselves. Do you know someone that would have ordered one of these in the early days of Disney World?
