We’ve got some bad news for fans of Disney’s Haunted Mansion ride!
Haunted Mansion in Disney World
Haunted Mansion is a popular ride in both Magic Kingdom (in Disney World) and Disneyland Park. Over on the east coast, this attraction is going to be CLOSED temporarily for part of August! Make sure you take note of this closure so that you’re not disappointed during your upcoming trip.
Haunted Mansion will be CLOSED in Disney World from August 7th through the 9th, 2023. It should reopen at 9AM on August 10th.
Disney noted on the ride’s webpage that this closure is for “routine refurbishment.” However, we can’t help but wonder if Disney Cast Members will be working on the NEW Hatbox Ghost animatronic that’s coming to the ride soon!
Haunted Mansion
The Hatbox Ghost has been at Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion for a while now, but Disney recently announced that it would be coming to Disney World as well. The only timeline for the ghost’s arrival is sometime in 2023.

When the Hatbox Ghost arrives, you’ll be able to spot him as your Doom Buggy passes the Endless Hallway. This is different from the ghost’s location in the Disneyland version of this ride.

Disney also noted that guests will see some “temporary barriers” pop up as Cast Members work on the change. We’ve already spotted some of those barriers, so we know that the ghost is on his way!
Again, Disney has NOT confirmed that this closure is for the installation of the new animatronic — it could just be routine maintenance to keep the ride running smoothly (but we’re keeping our fingers crossed!).

I love the Haunted Mansion. When I was 5, I was to scared to ride. Since then I have had a fascination with the ride and still get that 5 year old pop up when I enter the stretching room. Challenging you to find a way out. Love it. Saw both movies. A Disney must!!!
