Did you know that a champagne bar 🥂 is coming to Disney World?? Talk about the ULTIMATE way to celebrate big!
There are all kinds of bars in Disney World already — you can visit Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto for an exciting island-themed experience, head over to Wine Bar George to check out a wine list curated by Master Sommelier George Miliotes, or even visit the AbracadaBar for an evening filled with magic tricks and artistic cocktails. But a NEW restaurant opening this year is going to bring the first champagne bar to Disney’s BoardWalk, and we’re more than a little excited to check it out.
So here’s the the thing — we actually have seen a champagne bar in Disney World before, but just at EPCOT during the Festival of the Holidays in 2021. Oh, and we can’t forget about PINK, the champagne bar located on the Disney Dream cruise ship! But with one location being limited-time (only during the festival) and the other on a cruise ship, we can’t wait to welcome a permanent option to Disney World.
The Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers is coming to Disney World’s BoardWalk in 2023! It’s a table service restaurant that hosts brunch, lunch, and dinner, along with an afternoon tea service. There will also be a to-go bakery case if you want to grab a quick treat.
The restaurant will strive to create a “whimsical atmosphere that complements the magic of the idyllic charm of Disney’s BoardWalk that guests know and love.”
There are already two Cake Bake Shop locations, both in Indiana, so we have an idea of the decor and menu that will be at this spot.
We interviewed Gwendolyn Rogers last year about the new restaurant, and she mentioned that the restaurant will have two private rooms where private events can be held, like birthday parties, private wine dinners, or bridal showers. And to help really make it a celebration, the restaurant will have a champagne bar! Rogers said, “I’m going to have a champagne bar in the back of the Disney location, which will be different from the regular bar.”
It sounds like this is going to be the perfect spot for a big party. Rogers said that the restaurant is designed to be versatile and accommodate any event: “The way I’m designing it, you can take sections of the restaurant and close them off individually. So really, I’ll have six different areas where people can have a private event or a party, and I can close off that space to make it more intimate. Or, if I don’t have any parties, I can open it up and it’ll all look like one big, open place.”
Decor and atmosphere are also important to Rogers, who especially loves working with lighting and using different fixtures to create the perfect ambiance: “I love to have different lighting in each area. I love light fixtures — those are my gig. I’m not a big fan of can lighting, so I never use can lighting anywhere, in any room. It changes the room. To have a light shining right on my head makes me uncomfortable, so I’d rather have warm, soft lighting with chandeliers and sconces. That’s how I design my restaurants.” She said that the new restaurant in Disney World will look just like the one in Carmel, Indiana — “just better!”

If the menu mimics what is available at the other locations, we can expect to see things like fun cakes, pies, ice cream, French pastries, and more on the dessert menu.
As for the savory menu, there could be things like quiche, sandwiches, pasta, seafood, and more. And, there is an extensive drink menu as well (in addition to that champagne bar)!
Afternoon tea service at the other Cake Bake Shop locations includes things like scones, finger sandwiches, and mini desserts, which sound pretty ideal for a little party, if you ask us.
We might even get to see elaborate seasonal decorations, like the ones that pop upat the Cake Bake Shop locations in Indiana. Rogers said, “I hope they let me do as many Christmas trees as I like to do. On the outside of my Carmel shop, I have 14 Christmas trees, and they all twinkle and have beautiful ornaments on them. Inside, I always have a huge, 15-foot Christmas tree, which is just stunning to look at. I’m hoping that I’ll get to re-create what I do here.”

I cannot wait to go there! Afternoon tea and a champagne bar!? What more could I ask for?!

This just doesn’t seem to be the place vacationers in shorts and tshirts will want to go after being in the parks. And it definitely won’t appeal to men. Pricey too. We’ll see.

It all sounds wonderful, but so far there’s been barely any construction done on the new restaurant. The roof is a skeleton and there seems to be no visible work being done. The interview with Gwendolyn Rogers was done last year, so I’m worried that the lack of updates means this restaurant won’t happen after all.

Bad move! Take it from an ex-bartender. Champagne and hot weather don’t mix. There will be some obstreperous drunks by noon at Epcot.

Hi Tre! We are still seeing work being done on it. We send reporters to check and have been steadily watching the building change.
