Looking to be fully immersed in theming while you’re in Disney World?
Well, that’s one of Disney’s strong suits, so you’ll be set no matter which park you head to! But Disney’s Hollywood Studios is full to the brim with theming. Galaxy’s Edge will make you feel like you’ve entered another galaxy (far, far away). Hop on Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway and you’ll be transported into a cartoon! And Toy Story Land? It’s hard not to feel toy-sized when entering that section of the park. One ride in Toy Story Land has an especially big fan base: Slinky Dog Dash. Why, you ask? Let’s get into it.
Immersive Queue
One reason why this ride is so lovable is because the queue is so immersive! If you have to wait in a long line for an attraction (and trust us, the line for this one gets long), it definitely helps when the queue is fun.
It feels like you’ve stepped into a craft project that Andy is working on. His Dash & Dodge Mega Coaster Kit looks like it’s being assembled around you, and you’ll see gigantic Elmer’s Glue bottle details as well as other massive toys strewn about.
On the ceiling, details of the kit — which resembles a Slinky Dog version of Chutes and Ladders — share “Slinky Dog’s bowl is the goal!”
The theming continues all the way up to the ride itself.
Ride Details
Once you get to the ride, you’ll hop into a train that looks like Slinky Dog himself! What’s more, this lovable dog with a Southern drawl narrates the experience — from loading and safety instructions to portions of the actual ride.
As you zip around on the coaster, you’ll get a great view of Toy Story Land — and you’ll encounter more characters along the way! You’ll zoom past Jessie and Rex, who are seen stringing up some Christmas lights (that look HUGE — you are toy-sized after all).
At the end, Wheezy, the squeaky toy penguin from the Toy Story films, breaks into song, singing “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” into a plastic microphone.
Talk about fun details!
Fun for the Whole Family
Another reason this attraction is so well-loved is that it’s fun for everyone! Well, almost everyone — it does have a height restriction of 38 inches. Because Disney World doesn’t have many coasters, a lot of folks like this ride because it’s one of the few thrilling opportunities they have like it.

Here we go!
But even so, kids can enjoy it, too. With a mid-ride blastoff, pulsating rings, and a few camelback humps, this ride is exciting, but it doesn’t go upside down or get to intensely fast speeds.
Different at Night
Guests can also ride this multiple times for different experiences! At night, this attraction really comes alive. The track is covered in multi-colored lights, and Jessie and Rex’s Christmas lights shine brightly. Possibly the best lit-up part is the blast-off!
You might even think that the turns and drops can feel more intense at night.
Accessible
Finally, this ride is accessibility friendly.
The last car on every train is accessible, featuring a door that swings open for easier access. Compared to other attractions in Disney World, like TRON Lightcycle / Run, which only has accessible cars every few trains, this makes the ride more inclusive.
