Happy Halloween!
Disney World starts celebrating early and we’ve already had our fair share of spooky eats, treats, merch, and entertainment. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is in full swing and if you’re planning a visit you might want to be prepared. We’re here to share the WORST things people are doing at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party so you aren’t doomed to repeat them!
If you’re heading to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, make sure you aren’t making these mistakes!
Wearing costumes that are way too hot
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is one of the only times that kiddos and adults alike can get all dressed up in costumes — and people tend to go all out! We’ve seen some pretty epic outfits from folks, but there’s one thing you need to seriously think about if you’re heading to the party. Disney World is in Central Florida, and Central Florida is HOT during the summer months. Even later into October, the heat can still be unrelenting.
If you have a costume you’ve been dying to wear, consider what the temperature will be like on the date of your visit. Wearing a full princess gown and wig is absolutely a clutch move deserving of respect, but getting heatstroke when you’re trying to just have some spooky fun is not the main goal here.
We know, your costume is really just that incredible and you need to show it off — at least for a bit. Consider bringing your costume with you and changing into it instead, maybe even after the sun goes down. Try to modify your costume if at all possible to keep you a little bit cooler, and remember you can always stash your extra clothes in one of the lockers so you don’t have to carry things around with you while you trick or treat!

Making dining reservations
Being in Disney World means you’ve got your fair pick of delicious eats — but you’re in Magic Kingdom for a special party that only lasts for so long. Do you really want to spend a good chunk of that time sitting down to eat at a restaurant that’s normally always available?
Table-service restaurants in Magic Kingdom aren’t known for being overly quick, and when you only have so many hours to see and do so much, sitting down for a meal can really eat into that precious time. Not only that, but there are tons of exclusive party eats that you’re probably going to want to try. If you fill up on a full table-service meal, it’s possible that you wouldn’t even have room for all those goodies. And trust us, you’re going to want to try them.

Eating regular park food instead of exclusive treats
This brings us to our next point — the exclusive treats! We know how much you love those Casey’s Corner corn dog nuggets (we do too) but you can get those on any old day in Magic Kingdom. Disney went all out this year with some seriously macabre and spooky and we think you might want to try some of them out! There are a whole lot of new snacks and treats at this year’s party.
Although there are lots of Halloween treats in Magic Kingdom available during the day, we’re focusing on the party-exclusive treats here! Some of our favorites we tried this year were the Terrifyin’ Twice Spiced Chicken Sandwich from Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe…
…Char Siu Chicken Wings from Sleepy Hollow Refreshments…
…and more. We’re not here to tell you how to live your life though, so if you want that Mickey Premium Bar, go for it! But we think you might want to check some of these exclusive eats out while you have the chance!

Not trying to get a TRON virtual queue
There are plenty of rides open during the party and you can check them all out here. But, even though the wait times might be way lower than normal, that doesn’t mean you’ll be able to walk onto every single ride of your choosing. Magic Kingdom’s newest ride, TRON Lightcycle / Run is available during the party — but only via virtual queue, which means you won’t be able to just waltz on in.
Instead, you’ll have to be ready to try and snag that virtual queue at 6PM sharp — and that’s your only chance! Luckily, with fewer people in the park you’ll technically have a better chance of actually getting a boarding group, but that doesn’t mean it’ll be easy! The biggest mistake you can make here though is not trying to get a virtual queue spot at all. Make sure you set your alarm for 6PM if you don’t want to miss your chance.
The One Thing You CAN’T Do at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party
Skipping the Boo to You parade
There are so many incredible entertainment offerings at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, but if you ask us, the Boo to You Parade is the epitome of it all. It’s offered twice nightly, first at 9:15 and again at 11:15 (we’ve found that the second parade is usually less crowded than the first). This year, there are some NEW additions! Minnie, Daisy, and Clarabelle have joined the parade, dressed as the Sanderson sisters from Hocus Pocus…
…and Cruella, Ursula, and the Queen of Hearts have joined the party too! There are so many incredible characters, floats, and more in this parade and since this is your only chance to see it, we suggest checking it out.
Of course, everyone is different and we’re not here to yuck anyone else’s yum. If you really want to make those dining reservations or get those corn dog nuggies — we won’t tell you how to party. But, keep these things in mind since you’re only at this special event for so long!
We’ll be in the parks all spooky season long covering everything there is to see and do around Disney World, so be sure to stay tuned to DFB for more!
