There’s one question we get ALL the time when it comes to Disney World.
No, it’s not where to eat (although we do get that because, hey, we are Disney FOOD Blog). It’s not even a question about how to visit Disney World on a budget (although we get asked that a lot, too). No, one of the biggest questions we’ve been asked recently about Disney World is: “When will parking trams return to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios?” Well, y’all, brace yourselves because WE FINALLY HAVE AN ANSWER.
Okay, a little background information. After Disney World reopened in 2020 (after its historic closure), the trams in the parking lots were not in use. However, Disney did eventually bring trams back to the Ticket and Transportation Center (where you park when you visit Magic Kingdom) and Animal Kingdom.
The beauty of using the trams is that they take you from your parking spot (well, at least from nearby your spot) to the front entrance of the park (or to where you catch the Monorail or ferryboat to Magic Kingdom at the Ticket and Transportation Center). If you have to park ALL the way in the back of the parking lot, it’s okay, because you’ve got that tram to take you to and from that spot without a lot of walking.
However, if you have recently visited EPCOT or Hollywood Studios, you still had to make the long trek from the back of the parking lot to the park entrance (and back again) because trams never returned to those parks. Like you, we’ve been asking “WHY?!” a lot. But we’ve got an update that we think you’re going to like.
Disney has announced that parking trams will return to both EPCOT and Hollywood Studios THIS September. Y’all, that’s SOON, and our tired feet just sighed in relief. All we can say is — it’s about time! Disney World is healing.

So if you’re visiting Disney World after September and you’ll be driving, you don’t have to worry about the lack of parking trams in these two parks anymore. Trams will be available to save your poor feet at the beginning and end of your day. YAY!
We’ll be keeping an eye out for those parking trams and will let you know as soon as they’re available, so stay tuned to DFB for more.

I can’t believe it’s taken them this long to do this – unacceptable.

I never understood why it took them so long to have the trams back, especially at EPCOT. I GRITTED my teeth when we visited the parks in April and June as we trudged from the parking lot to the park when they had the trams running in MK. Ugh!

Probably staffing and the concern of disease spread was why they decided to cut them in beginning, after, it was a case of saving a whole bunch of money.
