We’ve been seeing recent news of CHANGES for Disney+ and it doesn’t seem to be ending.
Some content has disappeared from the service. Plus, The Spiderwick Chronicles show won’t be moving forward and Doogie Kamealoha, M.D. has been canceled after 2 seasons. Now there is another show that won’t be making it to the streaming service.
According to Deadline, Nautilus was supposed to be a 10-part UK live-action adventure series for Disney+ and it was commissioned 2 years ago. It was supposed to be based on the novel 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne and would have focused on the origin story of the famed Captain Nemo, but sadly, we will not be seeing this new series on Disney+.
Deadline reports that the show will NO longer be heading to Disney+.
Like the Spiderwick Chronicles, Nautilus has already been filmed. Because of this, Disney reportedly is working to find a new place for the series.
Earlier in the year, Disney announced that they would be cutting spending by $5.5 BILLION. As part of that strategy, Disney has been taking a close look at its programming on its streaming platforms.
We’ve seen since several shows leave Disney+ and Iger even mentioned pulling back on the development of certain series for the platform — like Marvel and Star Wars shows and movies. It seems Disney is working diligently to see its cost-cutting plan through, so more adjustments could hit the service in the future.

Nautilus – I think this is shirt sighted, but what do I know… Theme park attraction, extended show content, character building at parks & Disney plus. The more you cut, the less I want to keep my subscription. As was done with the parks, charge more, give us less product and hope for the best. Time ti start cutting my own costs…
