We’ve all been there — you’re on a long flight and your child is having a meltdown, or you’re hearing another child get upset.
It’s not a fun situation for anyone involved, and it could be even worse on long flights, such as international ones. Now, one airline has decided to try something new to address this situation: they’re testing child-free zones on flights.
According to USA Today, Corendon Airlines (based in Turkey) is testing flights with an adults-only zone. This section, which is walled off from the rest of the plane, will contain 92 standard seats and nine XL seats that are reserved for those 16 years of age and older.
The flights with this new system — a 10-hour journey from Amsterdam to Curaçao — will start in November. Those interested in these seats can upgrade to one of the standard seats in the zone for around $49 per person, or upgrade to the XL seats (which have extra legroom) for around $108 per person.
We’re curious about how well this will work and whether you’d still be able to hear screaming children since they’re still on the plane, just in a different section. We’ll just have to wait and see!
The new idea has been criticized by some while also being praised by both parents and childless passengers on Instagram. Could this make its way to the United States and beyond? We’ll have to see — in the meantime, check out more recent travel news below!
