Few seasons make us quite as giddy in Disney World as fall does.
Spooky season is in full swing and we’ve seen Halloween decor, snacks in Magic Kingdom, and merchandise all around the parks and hotels. If you’ve been waiting for even MORE spooky season treats you’re in luck because new fall treats have landed and we’re bringing you with us to check them out!
We stopped by Disney’s Riviera Resort to check out the Pumpkin Napoleon at Le Petit Cafe for $8.99. This is made with pumpkin diplomat cream, spiced diplomat cream, and dark chocolate. It’s all pumpkin, all the time in Disney World right now, and we’re certainly not complaining.
This thing has a strong pumpkin spice flavor and is heavy on the pumpkin. The pastry is flaky and adds a lot of texture, but it falls apart super easily and can definitely get messy if you’re not careful. It can be shared for a smaller dessert, or eat it all yourself if you’re a huge pumpkin fan. If you don’t like pumpkin spice flavor, this is definitely not for you because, man, it is overwhelming with this one.
We also have to mention how expensive this treat is for the size — it’s $9 for a pastry that’s not that large and is about 50% air thanks to the diplomat cream and the flaky pastry. We had hoped there would be more of a balance between the chocolate and the rest of the pumpkin flavor, but we were out of luck.
Disney’s Old Key West Resort is home to Good Foods To Go, and that’s where we’re grabbing this Mini Pumpkin! This sweet treat is made with pumpkin mousse, caramel, dulce crunch, and chocolate décor, and you can grab it for $5.99. Pumpkin, chocolate, and caramel? Say no more.
Right away, we were blown away with how ADORABLE this little pumpkin treat is! Aside from the treat being cute, we did take note that it was pretty small. We were wondering if this little ol’ thing could live up to its price of nearly $9. Well, there’s only one way to find out! As soon as we cut it open, we realized that it was pure pumpkin mousse, rather than pumpkin cake AND mousse. The mousse has a tendency to have a richer taste, so that explains the smaller portion size! Now, let’s taste it.
Wow! Right away, the dominant flavor is the pumpkin spice, of course. The mousse had a really nice texture that paired nicely with the outer part that coats the treat. For a small snack, it was SUPER rich — definitely sharable. We noticed that it does melt super easily, so make sure you have some time to sit and indulge in this one if you’re hoping to grab it.
Should you make the trip to Goods Foods To Go to give this limited-time treat a try? Well, if you love pumpkin spice desserts and don’t mind the texture of mousse, then you would definitely like this. However, if you’re not the biggest fan of pumpkin treats, rich desserts, or the mousse-like texture, you might wanna skip this one. While we found that the size of the snack was justified for how rich and decadent the treat is, we’re still not sure if the price is justifiable, so that’s something to keep in mind as well.
That’s all for now, but rest assured that we’re trying ALL SORTS of spooky treats around Disney World, so stay tuned to DFB for more!
