Whew! Is your head still spinning from all the Disney Parks announcements made at Destination D23?
We’re STILL trying to digest a lot of it, from how big the concept is for a potential Magic Kingdom expansion to what will replace DinoLand U.S.A. in Animal Kingdom to the return of Soarin’ Over California in EPCOT. There was just SO MUCH! However, there was one announcement in particular that we really weren’t expecting!
So Disney announced a ton of changes coming for Disney World rides, including the possibility that It’s Tough To Be a Bug would be getting replaced with a Zootopia show and a brand new Country Bears Jamboree Show in Magic Kingdom. But there was one announcement about a ride change that we did NOT see coming.
We were surprised when Disney announced that EPCOT’s Test Track will be getting a reimagining. Say what? We were expecting some big announcements, but this one wasn’t on our bingo card! Then we saw concept art of the potential new ride vehicles, which reminded us of World of Motion (the ride that was in that space before Test Track) and, well… 🤯
Just before the announcement, Disney mentioned its ongoing relationship with Chevrolet (the sponsor for Test Track), and then, the company was like “Oh, hey, we’re changing it.” As far as we know, this is the first mention of anything involving Test Track since 2012, the last time it was reimagined.
However, Disney did not say what the new version of the ride would be about, nor did we get any kind of timeframe on when Test Track will close and construction will begin on the new version of the ride. But we have to say, we are CURIOUS. What will it be?
The updated version of the ride will take inspiration from EPCOT’s old World of Motion attraction. In fact, Disney explained, “Imagineers along with teams from Chevrolet are reaching back into history for inspiration – from the original World of Motion – and bringing that spirit of optimism to the next iteration of the Test Track attraction!”
We’ll be keeping an eye out for more details on this Test Track reimagining, though, so stay tuned to DFB for more.

This was a bit of a surprise, but I’m glad they’re doing it. The ride is definitely in need of an update. Each day that we were in the park during our vacation in 20 23, the ride was down. My question is what happened to the update to the Epcot ball. Wasn’t that ride supposed to come down for a long-term rejuvenation? Not one word about that ride

I wish they would leave Country Bears alone, other than a little sprucing up. It’s a classic attraction. I’m afraid they will turn into the disaster Tiki Room was after the change. That still isn’t as good as the original show as some tunes are missing. So glad I have the soundtracks to both of them.

I’ll believe it when it happens. All these changes may be forgotten like the Mary Poppins ride and Spaceship Earth reimagining.
