I can think of few things in life that hit the spot quite like a spread of sushi and some good ol’ soy sauce and shrimp sauce to accompany it.
I personally eat sushi a couple times per week because it’s quick to eat, nutritious, and also pretty filling — and I know that there are lots of other sushi-lovers here on the DFB team! However, there’s one place we probably won’t be eating sushi. That place is Disney World!
I know what you’re thinking. You’re probably thinking something along the lines of, “Why? It’s light and fresh, AND Disney World is near the coast so you know the seafood is likely to be good.” Well, my friend, it is just too dang HOT.
On a long, hot day in Disney World, nothing really gives us the ick like carrying around a plate of fish or sitting outside with some sushi. There are frequently grab-and-go sushi options in the Japan pavilion at EPCOT, and eating fish in the hot sun just isn’t really on our list of favorite things. Plus, the sauces and some of the toppings and seasonings are LOADEDDDDD in sodium, which will only further dehydrate you and make you even thirstier.
Now, you could always opt for a sit-down restaurant with air conditioning to enjoy some sushi, like Shiki Sai: Sushi Izakaya. However, a belly full of fish while walking around in the hot sun just isn’t super appealing either.
So, what do we do? Well, we either get sushi and take it back to the hotel at the end of the day when it’s cool, or grab it from a table service restaurant if it isn’t super hot outside. It’s also a fan-favorite dish of ours to grab in the winter since we won’t be sweating buckets while trying to eat or digest it.

Sodium is essential for rehydration. That’s why sports drinks are loaded in salt.

Go to Splitsville. You wouldn’t guess it, but they have excellent sushi and some Asian inspired dishes as well as some great burgers for everyone else.
