With the COVID-19 pandemic, we saw several changes, especially when it comes to entertainment.
One of those changes was the addition of Groupwatch, which gave users the ability to watch Disney+ with a group and have the show or movie synced to each person’s device so that you could watch together in real time, even when you aren’t physically together! While we’re no longer separated by quarantine, some of our loved ones still live very far away, and we still enjoyed utilizing this Disney+ feature. If you’re like us and loved Groupwatch, we have some bad news.
Disney+ has REMOVED the Groupwatch feature! Yep, you can no longer watch your favorite shows or movies while synced with other users.
We recently noticed this and decided to reach out to Disney+ support to confirm the removal of the feature. Sure enough, the Cast Member told us that Groupwatch has been removed.
At the Q3 earnings call for fiscal 2023, Disney CEO Bob Iger shared that Disney+ would soon begin cracking down on account sharing. This could be a result of that. While it’s true that you could still time things to where you and a friend start a show or movie at the same time, it’s just not the same!
We’ll continue to keep you updated with more Disney news, so make sure to follow along so that you’re always in the loop.
