Ahoy, mateys!
Gather up yer doubloons and prepare yer chanteys — a new Pirates of the Caribbean-themed restaurant is coming to Magic Kingdom! Ever since Disney shared the good news at Destination D23 this year, we have been not-so-patiently waiting for more information about what to expect at this new lounge. While we don’t yet know what will be served there, there’s one thing we are begging Disney to include — savvy?
Adventureland is already teeming with some of our favorite references to the movies. (We know, the ride came first — but there are a lot of movie-specific nods there!) One special thing that you might encounter while walking around the land is a roaming Jack Sparrow — ahem, Captain Jack Sparrow.
His character is such an iconic part of the franchise, that Disney even shared a TikTok with Cast Members impersonating the beloved pirate when they announced the restaurant!
@disneyparks ☠️ THIS IS NOT A DRILL ☠️ A new Pirates of the Caribbean-themed lounge is coming to Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World 🏴☠️ @Disney D23 #Disney #DisneyParks #DisneyWorld #MagicKingdom #DisneyNews #Pirates #PiratesOfTheCaribbean #DestinationD23
So, in the name of Captain Jack Sparrow, we have one request for this new lounge in Disney World: Let there be RUM. It is a bit hard to imagine a Pirates of the Caribbean-themed dining location not serving rum, but let’s not forget — it is Magic Kingdom.
Alcohol is a bit hard to come by in this park. While the other three Disney World parks sell beer at carts and mixed drinks at snack stands, you won’t find adult beverages so easily in Magic Kingdom.
Currently, for the most part, alcohol is only served in table service restaurants, like Be Our Guest and Cinderella’s Royal Table. While there are other exceptions, like at Fireworks Dessert Parties, alcoholic beverages are still pretty scarce in the park.
Now, Disney describes this new spot as a “tavern” and “lounge,” so this is a bit of a grey area. But, it seems even Disney knows the importance of rum to the storyline — you can see those Sparrow-impersonators very clearly running by a huge barrel of rum.
If only for the Cast Members’ sake who will inevitably have to be on the receiving end of “Why is the rum always gone” jokes if said beverage isn’t available — please let there be rum.

Can we PLEASE have ONE Disney World Park remain family friendly!!!!! Adding rum to Magic Kingdom would destroy the family friendly atmosphere that Walt Disney strove for. I already feel that I can’t take my family to EPCOT because of all the drunks. Animal Kingdom isn’t much better. Please, I’m begging you, if you absolutely require alcohol Go SOMEWHERE ELSE.

I agree MK should have a limited amount of alcohol being served. A nice drink with a great sit down meal, yes. The new Pirates restaurant dinning in the evening, yes a nice drink would go good with meal.Lunch alcohol free for more younger family member.I go to EPCOT for all the festival and have for many years and I have yet to “all the drunks” you speak of.If carrying a fancy drink around the park from sampling to sampling is seen as drunk. I understand your feelings. I’m sorry you family is missing out on so much of EPCOT because of the perception.

I have been coming to MK since it opened.
I worked for Disney 7 years.
I am an AP and my husband and I go to the parks constantly. In ALL of my visits to THE PARKS (EPCOT) I have NEVER seen DRUNKS!!!!
This is a RUMOR that should stop.
If they are clever enough to bring RUM to the Pirates Cafe then KUDOS to DISNEY!!!
if you have kids stay out. If you don’t drink I am sure the will have non alcoholic drinks of all kinds. If you don’t drink then you would NOT consider even trying the RUM!! BUT that should be left up to the RESPONSIBLE ADULT at the lawful age to purchase the RUM! people need to stop dictating policies for Disney to change for TOURISTS or sensitive visitors. The problems with KIDS and Volkswagen size strollers and unattended children is the biggest problem at Disney.
BRING ON THE PIRATES CAFE AND THE RUM

Let me start by saying that I have enjoyed the wine flight at Cinderella’s Royal Table. I enjoy the beautifully themed cocktails at Trader Sam’s, Oga’s Canteen, Jock Lindsey’s Hanger Bar and so on. I am happy for those who have not experienced irresponsible drinking at Disney World. But I have seen it… a lot. A guy so drunk that he walked into a pillar at The America Pavilion and couldn’t figure out what was wrong. A woman who fell down next to the Frozen queue. A man standing in the middle of the World Showcase walkway repeatedly yelling at the sky, “I’m so drunk.” There are more. This is observation; not rumor, not opinion, not perception.
