Disney recently made a TON of new announcements about changes coming to the parks, hotels, and cruise ships. Disney fans are super excited about a lot of these updates, but there’s one thing that everyone’s getting WRONG!
Let’s take a deep dive into one of the recent announcements and clear up some confusion.
At the Destination D23 event this past September, Disney announced that a NEW Pirates of the Caribbean-themed lounge will be coming to Magic Kingdom! Disney fans have taken this announcement and run with it…and not all of their conclusions make sense.
The Location of the Pirates of the Caribbean Lounge
This new Pirates of the Caribbean lounge is confirmed to be coming to Adventureland, but some people have assumed that means it’s actually going to be INSIDE the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction (likely because there’s a restaurant inside the Pirates of the Caribbean ride in Disneyland — the Blue Bayou).
We need to clear things up: Disney has NOT said that the lounge will be located inside the attraction. In fact, they haven’t announced any specific location for this new spot.
So far, all Disney has shared with us is that this “first-of-its-kind experience will extend the story of Pirates of the Caribbean” and will be located inside Adventureland. Maybe it’ll be inside the attraction, but more likely it’ll be located elsewhere.
So, where will this lounge go? Some folks are guessing that there could be a reimagining of Tortuga Tavern, which is across from Pirates. We have another guess, though. We’re wondering if the lounge might be placed in the former Pirates League area.
From what we know, Pirates League is currently being used as a sort of break/lounge area for Adventureland Cast Members. It’s located super close to the Pirates ride. Tortuga Tavern seems a bit large for a lounge space, but the League seems intimate and exclusive enough — if maybe a few walls are knocked down inside.
We’ll just have to wait and see what Disney has planned for this new space!

But wait just a second — there’s one other thing that lots of people are getting wrong, so we just have to address it really quickly.
Disney’s New “Private Island” Is Not a Private Island
Disney recently announced a new island destination in the Bahamas, and many people assumed they meant another private island, like Castaway Cay. However, that’s not the case.
Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point is the new destination, and it’s located on Eleuthera in The Bahamas (which is NOT an island owned privately by Disney). Disney purchased part of this island for the new destination.
Lookout Cay will open to Disney Cruise Line passengers in the summer of 2024. The Disney Magic, Disney Dream, and Disney Fantasy cruise ships will all offer sailings to Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point starting then.
Some of the features of this new area include distinctive, sweeping architecture in bright colors; Disney character meet-and-greets; “pristine beaches” including a family beach and an adults-only beach; a market-style dining spot; and a Bahamian art and culture pavilion.
There will also be an interactive family water play area, a toddler play area, and a themed Kids’ Club.
We can’t wait to learn more about this new destination!
