Even though it’s been around for a few years now, Genie+ is still quite controversial in Disney World and Disneyland.
We totally get why — it’s not free and therefore can add a really large additional charge onto your expenses, BUT we also know many guests who enjoy the service more than FastPass or FastPass+. The service certainly has its pros and cons, and unfortunately, it looks like another con could be on its way — here’s why you may want to expect Genie+ to get more expensive in Disney World soon.
Price Increases in Disneyland
Our first clue is that Disneyland recently announced that Genie+ would be increasing in price. Genie+ now STARTS at $30 per ticket per day.
The service last increased in price in October 2022, when it went from a start of $20 to $25 per ticket per day. So this is a $5 increase, just like last year. Keep in mind though, that’s the STARTING cost, so if the park is busy, it could be higher. To find the current price for the day, check the Disneyland App.
While Disney World does Genie+ a little differently (the price not only depends on the day, but also which park you’re heading to), this does mean that we may want to expect a price increase announcement here as well. While we’re hoping it won’t happen, it’s best to be prepared.
Holidays Are Approaching
If you’re heading into Disney World for the holiday season (Halloween, Thanksgiving week, Christmas week, New Year’s Eve, or New Year’s Day), you’ll also want to expect to pay more for Genie+.
Disney charges more for the service, no matter what park you’re going into (but once again, the busier parks like Magic Kingdom or Hollywood Studios will be more expensive than less popular parks) the more crowded the parks are, and holidays are peak crowd times. They’re able to predict the crowd levels based on what park passes have been snatched up.
The prices can also change PER DAY, so you could be paying $25 one day, and then $20 the next day, depending on which park you’re going to and the crowds for that day. If you’ll be there during the peak holiday season and are planning to park hop each day, we suggest allocating about $25-$30 per person, per day in your budget if you plan to use Genie+. This way, you aren’t caught off guard!

Greg Lanman says
a show of hands, who actually uses the “benefit?” We, routinely, go to WDW and have found this “benefit” to be a complete waste of time and more importantly, money. Disney would do themselves a massive favor by bring back fast-passes. The only people who use this benefit, from what I have gathered, via personal observations, are people who are at WDW for their 1st time, ever or who go to WDW once in a blue moon.
