Tokyo Disneyland has Mickey Bread. Tokyo Disneyland has cool popcorn buckets. Tokyo Disneyland even has a MAGICAL parade. But there’s one thing Tokyo Disneyland does NOT currently have: Mobile Order.Â
After returning from a recent visit to Tokyo, we can safely confirm that waiting in lines for all those Disney snacks takes a LOT longer than you might think. Luckily, Tokyo Disney Resort just made a BIG announcement that could fix the problem!Â
Tokyo Disney Resort announced that Disney Mobile Order will be available starting November 8th, 2023.Â
The new Mobile Order feature will allow guests to place an order from a selection of restaurants from anywhere in the park using the Tokyo Disney Resort App. Sound familiar? The process is expected to work like the Mobile Order system in Disney World and Disneyland Resort!
Want to see why this is such a big deal? Take a look at the line just to order food at Hungry Bear Restaurant! In our experience, the lines at Tokyo Disney’s counter service restaurants can get SUPER long.Â
In fact, the park can get so busy that you have to rope drop the restaurants (yes, the RESTAURANTS!) and may end up waiting over an hour to order food. Forget the rides — it’s a race to the front of Grandma Sara’s Kitchen!
The lines can get so long that Disney has an entire section of its app dedicated to the wait times for the counter service restaurants. Check it out — there was a 90-minute wait for the Great American Waffle Co. We’re hoping that the new Mobile Order system breaks these lines up a bit!
To start, there will be two Mobile Order restaurants at each park. In Tokyo Disneyland, Mobile Order will be available at Plazma Ray’s Diner and Grandma Sara’s Kitchen. At Tokyo DisneySea, you can Mobile Order your meal from Casbah Food Court or Yucatan Base Camp Grill.Â
Disney posted a step-by-step guide to using Mobile Order via the Tokyo Disney App. Of course, there may be some growing pains with the new service, but overall, we think this will be a great addition to the park!
The process works much like the Mobile Order system at Disney World. Select your restaurant, choose a time, and place an order!
Note that time slots may fill up, so keep an eye on the availability throughout the day!
We’re hoping that more restaurants will be added to the Mobile Order system in the future.
Once your order is placed, all that’s left is to wait for your food!
The pick-up process is pretty much the same as in Disney World and Disneyland, too.
Tap “I’m Here” when you arrive at the restaurant, then pick up your order when it’s ready. It’s super simple!
As we said, it may take some time to work through the bugs when the new Mobile Order system is first introduced. After all, you saw those lines — the process of ordering food is no joke in Tokyo Disneyland! But once things are all ironed out, we’re hoping this will help save some MAJOR time.
If you prefer to wait in line, all four Mobile Order-friendly restaurants will continue to accept orders at the counter. In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more.
