The holiday season is ALMOST here!
If you’re like us, you can’t wait for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party in Magic Kingdom, and can’t wait to see, do, and eat ALL the things. But there are a couple of things that could be missing from the party this year — namely some special holiday ride overlays. That’s why we’ve rounded up a list of all the rides and attractions that have had overlays in the past, but have yet to be announced!
Ride Overlays
During past parties, these rides had special festive overlays during the party, but have not yet been announced to have them again in 2023. These included the Tomorrowland Speedway Race Through the Holidays…
…the Mad Teacups had holiday lights and music…
and the Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor Holiday Show had holiday-themed jokes!
If they do come back for this year’s party, be sure to check out all these overlays while you’re there!
Here’s a look at the rides that we do know will have their holiday overlays:
Jungle Cruise
First up, we’re starting with a classic! During the holiday season at Magic Kingdom, Jungle Cruise transforms into Jingle Cruise, complete with special decor and boatloads of holly jolly puns. This ride overlay is not only available during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, but also during the daytime as well.
Even the individual boats get holiday-themed names, and the queue gets some seasonal jokes and references added as well. If you want to check this one out, you’ll probably want to rope drop it — that line can get long!

Space Mountain
During Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party (MVMCP), there is currently one confirmed ride overlay — Space Mountain! Typically for the holiday parties, this ride will get special music and lighting effects.
For the Christmas Party, expect a lot of red and green, along with some rockin’ holiday tunes! This one will only be available for guests who have a ticket to MVMCP though, so you’ll just be riding the regular version during the daytime.
In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for more to add to that list! Stay tuned to DFB for the latest updates about holiday season happenings in Disney World!

Maybe it is just us but my daughter and I don’t like the Space Mountain overlay. The lights and music change it in a way we don’t like. Even though we are doing the party twice on our upcoming trip we will stick to non party time rides for Space. The music makes sense in rides like Guardians or Rock n Roller coaster but not Space. And the whole premise is you can’t see the track and you are shooting through space.
