A lot of exciting things are happening in Disney Parks all across the world.
Tokyo Disneyland is getting a massive expansion called Fantasy Springs. Shanghai Disney Resort is getting a Zootopia-themed land. Plus A brand new Frozen-themed land at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort just opened — and guess what? We are there LIVE to take you through this new World of Frozen land that features two new rides, all your favorite Frozen characters, and most importantly, new food! So let’s go!
Atmosphere
We’re starting our Frozen adventure in the village of Arendelle, which looks AMAZING. This land is SO immersive that you feel like you’re there.
They even have Arendelle citizens walking around having conversations about the village, as well as Anna and Elsa.
The whole focus here is to make you feel like you’re a part of Arendelle. It is SO much fun just walking around and just being a part of the whole thing.
Oh, did we mention that you just randomly bump into characters? They’re wandering around the area. Oh, hey, Kristoff!
You can even see Oaken! Now we have to remind you that the ONLY other way to meet these two characters is on the Disney Wish. So this is a BIG deal. This is also one of our favorite character interactions EVER because he’s doing the tiny Oaken steps and it was hilarious and fun.
Attractions
Of course, we’re also checking out the two new rides here. Wandering Oaken’s Sliding Sleighs is a short roller coaster ride that reminds us a lot of Seven Dwarfs Mine Train in Magic Kingdom. It’s very smooth, though — and FAST!
There are also so many fun details in the queue.
The Frozen Ever After ride is a direct copy of the ride at EPCOT, BUT the space for the ride feels way better since it’s new and was specifically created for the ride. Also, there are some new effects PLUS the animatronics are SO much better here (um…Disney, bring this to EPCOT, please?). The drop is also way more dramatic when she hits that big “Let It Go.” YES!
Food
Of course, we’re here mostly for the food because that’s what we do. So let’s pop into the Golden Crocus Inn and grab some goodies like a seafood stew, forest mushroom pasta, and more! YUM. What we love is that the chefs here went out of their way to make the food authentic to Norway while also making sure it appeals to guests.
Entertainment
Okay, we’re full now, so time to take in a show. The Playhouse in the Woods is SO cool. You wait in a hallway, then some doors open and Anna invites you to come inside. The first thing we noticed was a puppet Olaf on the stage. Then we got to sing, but what impressed us the most was how personal the show felt. Anna and Elsa come out into the audience and interact with everyone.
You can even get your hairstyles and get some body or face paint — and get this, EVEN ADULTS CAN PARTICIPATE. Take that Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique.
So we have to mention the merchandise because a LOT of what you can buy here will not be found anywhere else. There’s a little bit of something for everyone from a collaboration with Godiva (OH YEAH) to a commemorative stamp collection to handicraft and woven goods true to Norwegian culture.
We are absolutely loving our time in World of Frozen and getting to see just how immersive the land is has made us not ever want to leave. No, we won’t “Let it go.” Can we just move to Arendelle and stay here forever?
We’ll be updating this post as we explore more, so stay tuned to DFB for the latest from World of Frozen at Hong Kong Disneyland!

Wow! This looks totally amazing :)! When you say “immersive” what I’m immediately reminded of is the first time I visited Pandora in Animal Kingdom. I remember near one of the entrances there was a ‘naturalist guide’ (?) teaching a group of kids about nature in Pandora. The kids looked genuinely interested and happy to be there and the ‘guide’ was typically excellent in character. So, even though *I* didn’t do the naturalist thing, having that really happening made me feel more like I was in a place called Pandora. I feel like Disney really focused on that ‘immersive’ quality for the guests with that and the amazing interactive ‘plantimals’ (?) and I think they may have continued the trend in HK. I can say, I feel a bit disappointed by Galaxy’s Edge because I think they *should* have achieved that there and missed the mark :(. Thank you folks so much for bringing us Arendelle live :)!

I’m loving it! May Frozenmania never abate! I am interested in the new animatronics- the “Face Projection” era seemed like a big advancement at the time, but the new stuff is more high-tech. I WILL say the projections allow for more expressions- as amazing as the new animatronic Elsa looks, for example, she’s mainly making the same expression since most of what she can do is move her mouth up and down.
