If you catch yourself greeting your friends often with “Welcome, Foolish Mortals,” this post is for you.
Okay, so yes, we’re super excited that Hat Box Ghost finally made his way to Disney World’s Haunted Mansion. We’re also VERY stoked about the Haunted Mansion lounge that will be on the Disney Treasure ship. But there’s a Haunted Mansion experience somewhere else that we’re just jealous of (because we can’t easily go visit it). 😢
Okay, so we have to give you a little background information first. There is a VERY cool thing at Tokyo Disneyland called Disney Story Beyond. This is a series of events held at the park where guests can explore more of different attractions’ stories, as well as get access to NEW stories and characters related to that ride. It includes augmented reality photo ops and something called “nazotoki,” which is a popular Japanese mystery-solving program. Sounds SO cool, right?
Disney previously held the first episode of Disney Story Beyond in 2023, which also included all of this plus merchandise exclusive to the event. Well, the second episode is happening in 2024 from February 7th through April 30th, 2024. This episode is called “A Hidden Fate” and will include rides and a puzzle-solving program inside the park, as well as special drinks and snacks.
The story of “A Hidden Fate” will feature characters from the first episode, but will also include NEW characters and new stories. Before the special in-park event begins on February 7th, the website will post episodes, as well as offer more information about some of the ghosts. So it’s basically a NEW way to interact with the Haunted Mansion and learn more about its 999 Happy Haunts. There also seems to be a virtual component for those who want to “play,” but can’t make it to the park.
This sounds AMAZING, and we’d love to do that here in the U.S. parks, but as always, Tokyo gets ALL the cool stuff, and so we’ll just sit here and pout and be jealous…AGAIN.
