The day has finally come when a popular Disney show is saying farewell.
Change is inevitable at the Disney Parks and Disneyland is no exception. Amid rumors of Disneyland expansion, the Anaheim-based park is about to close a popular experience for good. That’s right, “Tale of the Lion King” is ending after its final show on January 7th.
“Tale of the Lion King” was confirmed to end its run on January 7th, 2024 last year by Disney after nearly two years of production at the Fantasyland Theatre between Mickey’s Toontown and “it’s a small world”.
The Disneyland show is/was a theater adaptation of Disney’s The Lion King (1994) performed by “The Storytellers of the Pride Lands.” The show hasn’t always been in its current form, as it premiered in 2019 at the Palisades Stage over at Disney California Adventure. However, in 2022 it moved over to Disneyland and featured new scenes, costume designs, music, and choreography that was inspired by the African roots of The Lion King.
